Its got a surprisingly good and robust campaign, I'm interested.
I was on-board with what this reviewer was saying until I got to 3:05 with "exquisite" space combat.

Here's a video by Kotaku of the space combat.
- Perfect maneuverability with no inertia or torque
- Unlimited missiles and flares
- Bodycheck asteroids for fun with no consequences
- Your spaceship has inherited your traditional CoD magical bullshit health regeneration
I guess these are seen as acceptable fudges to the CoD crowd, since the series is not known for realism or attempting any sort of simulator models for any of its craft, but "exquisite" is a bit much even for Gamespot. But it's also only one aspect of the SP campaign and as pointed out in the review not even in the MP, so I suppose I can't expect too much.
It makes me think of a Michael Bay 21st-century reimagining of Atari's Asteroids. If you like that sort of thing, then fantastic, here's the game for you. I just can't count myself as being in that group.
I don't know why, but the fact that the robot's name is Ethan cracks me up a little. It's like naming a dog Jonathan.

Well they tried to make it seemingly act and talk like a human despite being a combat machine, so I guess it makes sense to humanize him with a human name. Although apparently it's "ETH.3n" because some writer thinks he's clever.

oh god, that flying is so bad, it makes me feel sick. No weight to it, its way to smooth, why did they even bother? Guessing since space sims are coming back
That flying segment just reminds me of how god awful the space segment in cod ghosts was, not suprising cause it's the same dev team.
How the fuck are those explosions and bullet's being heard so clearly in a fucking vacuum?

Video Game.
Same reason Star Wars and Star Trek do, it's cool.
Also one of the other videos shows that the Ship and or space suit creates the sounds itself interpreting shockwaves and visuals or some dumb shit.

So your main complaints are that it's incredibly simple, quick, and unrealistic...
What do you think Call of Duty is? It's not a simulator game, it's an action game.

But it sounds cooler with the vacuum effect! Dead space did it so well!
But it sounds cooler with the vacuum effect! Dead space did it so well!
I think in one of the videos the ui said something like "applying sound simulation" or something like that, hency why you can hear the sounds clearly.

That doesn't make any sense either, wouldn't a military entity want to keep noise pollution in comm heavy activity to a minimum?

Wait there was a space section in ghosts? What?

The part where you navigate the space stations, not a real space section.

I don't want pitch perfect space flight simulation in my Call of Duty.
Call of Duty games' campaigns seem to nail the action movie feel pretty well. I look forward to playing it, and it alone. Who needs MP.
The zombie mode looks great

did you seriously expect a space sim from call of duty
like, its explosive and flashy, what the fuck more do you need from call of duty
Good to see the campaign is back to being good again.
I don't know what the hive mind wants to hear, but as a guy who had sworn off this franchise for years, I must say that IW's campaign is way more fun than it has any right to be. The writing is actually good, there is an impressive variety (and amount) of missions, and dogfighting is surprisingly not an entirely on rails experience. I had no intention of saying this before, but I would definitely recommend this over Titanfall 2.

Not watching the video because of spoilers, but I can tell you that this doesn't sound like the game I'm playing. Ships only get 12 missiles max if you take an extended magazine, and you can't even use them effectively on aces or anything bigger than a fighter. Flares run on a reasonable cooldown. There is plenty of collision damage and detection, seeing as I've died after flying into both an asteroid and one of wingmen.
The plane handles like a mix of Strike Vector and Assault Horizon. You can toggle between hover and thrust modes, and while there is manual aiming, you can "lock on" enemy craft for a less on rails version of Assault Horizons dogfight mode.
Its good that apparently the campaign's good rather than being an overpriced multiplayer-only game with a shit campaign. I may pick up later down the road, but I'm giving Titanfall 2 too much love to care for CoD.
Please go easy Activison and Battlefield 1.

Situational awareness.
It's weird to hear a CoD campaign praised more than its multiplayer for once.

the campaign is good but very short. while the space combat is very casual, it does a good job at making you feel like a badass, which is what you want from a such a bombastic setting.

The day an arcade shooter with arcade mechanics throws in realistic physics is the day I become extremely confused.
