Do you guys have any recommendations other than the jp6k for emulating a super saw?
I still feel like the ones I attempt aren't as spine chilling as some of the edm producers that I listen to like, Mat Zo, Porter Robinson etc can emulate.
I like JP6K but it feels like it isn't enough.. Maybe its just me.
But I'd like to hear your suggestions? Should I attempt to engineer my own super saws? or do you guys have any plugins or sounds that I could use.
Thank you in advance!
1) Take any synth under the sun.
2) Set all the oscs to saw waves.
3) Detune all the oscs from eachother slightly.
4) Look for unison and turn it all the way up.
5) Add chorus or phasers or whatever.
6) EQ/delay/reverb to taste.
6) Done.
Yours aren't as spine chilling because the other edm producers you listen to have been producing for a long time and are good producers, not because they have some plugin you don't know about. There's nothing special to 'emulate' it's literally just saw waves.
Detuned trancey saw wave shit is hands-down one of the easiest sounds to make, and if you're not getting what you want, you just have to work at it more.
Well I've attempted to make my own doing what you said.. but it seems too quiet to me still.. that's the first thing I tried actually. then I went on the anjuna beats forum to find info about it but they said to get the plug-in.. I can'tthat plug in x.x
I'm fairly certain Mat Zo and Porter use Sylenth1 for alot of their stuff, most house producers use it nowadays, if you want I could post a basic super saw preset from sylenth?

It also helps if you mix in a square wave an octave lower than the saws. Also if you're using Sylenth, switch the filter to 12db lowpass with the cutoff all the way up and turn up the drive slightly. It'll beef up the sound at the expense of some high frequencies (which you can add back with the EQ module anyway)
white noise can also help
I finally got the effect I wanted! Thanks guys! I'll be posting some music in the music in progress thread soon if you guys wanna hear the end result!

Loudness shouldn't be a primary goal straight out of the synth, if you need it to be louder or cut through the mix more you can do that well with EQ.
Well I figured it out after a while haha but thanks everyone for the help! I also got a nifty eq chart
