Powerbrokers Sepp Blatter and Michel Platini have been banned from football for eight years by FIFA's ethics committee.
Platini was also fined $A112,000 while Blatter was fined $A70,000.
The FIFA president and his one-time intended successor are being kicked out of the sport over a $US2 million ($2.79 million) payment Blatter approved for Platini in 2011.
The case centred on Platini, as UEFA president and a FIFA vice president in 2011, receiving the money as uncontracted salary for working as Blatter's adviser in 1999-2002.
"Blatter's actions did not show commitment to an ethical attitude, failing to respect all applicable laws and regulations," the ethics committee said in a statement.

Well that was a disappointingly small punishment.

It's a very hard one for someone that is 79 years old and I doubt Platini will be able to just come back and go straight for the head when he's credibility is gone.
It'll take that long to weem and out the others who are responsible for the corruption of FIFA
He'll probably dead by then.
At his age it's basically for life. Good fucking riddance.

It's the end of both their careers, were you expecting a public execution?

You can't be serious.
Still waiting for the FBI to go after them.
