Biography:
The Beastie Boys are an American hip hop trio originating from New York City. The group consists of Mike D (Michael Diamond), MCA (Adam Yauch), and [King] Ad-Rock (Adam Horovitz,). The Beastie Boys began as hardcore punk band in 1979, first appearing on the compilation cassette New York Thrash before releasing their first EP, Polly Wog Stew, in 1982. After achieving moderate local success with the 1983 release of their experimental hip-hop 12" Cooky Puss, they made the transition to hip-hop in 1984 and a string of successful 12" singles followed by their debut album Licensed to Ill in 1986 which received international critical acclaim and commercial success. As of 2010, they have sold 22 million albums in the United States and 40 million albums worldwide. They are one of the longest lived hip-hop acts worldwide and continue to enjoy commercial and critical success in 2011, nearly 25 years after the release of their debut album.
Discography:
Licensed to Ill (1986) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Licensed_to_Ill In 1986, the Beastie Boys released one of their most popular albums to date. It sparked international interest in the group and was a leading factor in the rise of hip hop. Licensed to Ill has sold over 9 million copies to date. Paul's Boutique (1989) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul%27s_Boutique This record will always be a fan favorite. It was very favorable among critics. Paul's Boutique is certified double platinum. In 2003, the album was ranked number 156 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time. The album was re-released in a 20th anniversary package featuring 24-bit remaster audio and a commentary track on January 27, 2009. Check Your Head (1992) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Check_Your_Head The Beastie Boys third album, released nearly 6 years after the 1st, was a success, but has less satisfactory compared to the first 2 albums. The Boys returned stylistically to their punk rock roots on Check Your Head, playing their own instruments for the first time on record since their early EPs. Ill Communication (1994) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ill_Communication It was their second #1 album on the Billboard charts. This was due to their hit "Sabotage". The album would also be their second triple platinum album. Hello Nasty (1998) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hello_Nasty After 4 previous albums, quality did not falter on this one. The album took home two awards at the 1999 Grammys, in the categories of Best Alternative Music Album and Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group for "Intergalactic". To the 5 Boroughs (2004) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/To_the_5_Boroughs The album debuted #1 on the Billboard 200 with 360,000 copies sold in its first week. The album was less popular, but is one my favorites. The Mix-Up (2007) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Mix-Up The Mix-Up is an entirely instrumental album and won a Grammy Award for Best Pop Instrumental Album. The album has the lowest critic's ratings out of all of their album, but has varied scores. Hot Sauce Committee Part Two (2011) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hot_Sauce_Committee_Part_Two The album was originally planned for release on September 15, 2009 under the title Hot Sauce Committee, Pt. 1, as the first installment of a two part set. However, the album was delayed after band member Adam "MCA" Yauch was diagnosed with cancer. After a two year delay, only one album has been released and it is not clear if the plan for a two part album has been abandoned. That song is pretty awesome. Same with the video.
Paul's Boutique is the first ever hip-hop album I've listened to. It's still my favourite. No wonder people call it the Dark Side of the Moon of rap albums.
When ever we do a ComedySportz show at my school we always opt to play the game "Beastie Boy Rap" where we have to rap freestyle and every sentence has to rhyrme with a single syllable name that the audience chooses. It's hard as fuck but so much fun. :v:

Beastie Boys were one of the first hip hop artist I sat down and listened to. They are one of the best that's all there is to say.
Beastie Boys were one of the first hip hop artist I sat down and listened to. They are one of the best that's all there is to say.
I generally dislike hip hop, but the Beastie Boys gave the genre a better image.
Paul Revere is a fucking classic.
You are fucking correct, sir. Ill Communication is probably the album I've listened to most, but I like just about all Beastie music.

C'mon y'all, it's time to get nice.
I represented today. I also have a Check Your Head beanie that's older than I am, my Dad saw them live a couple times and snagged one.
That's awesome. I need to get some BBoys apparel.
What's the time? IT's TIME TO GET ILLLLLLL
Make some noise just has the best fucking beats ever. If I could have theme music whenever I walk out the door I want that to start playing
Beastie Boys are the fucking shit. Check Your Head and Paul's Boutique are great, great records.
I know most people didn't really like it I loved To The Five Boroughs. It was a well produced album.
To The Five Boroughs was certainly different from their previous albums (I feel like the beats were a little less creative and all over the place than they had been the previous albums) but by no means was it weak. I like it.

Hot Sauce Committee Part 2 was awesome.
Hot Sauce Committee Part 2 was awesome.
It was different and was hard to get used to.
Actually it reminded me of the early beastie boys, especially with the thick synths and lyrics wise also. i admit it was love at first listen though.

MMMMMM DROP! Love the Beastie Boys, been listening to them ever since I was really young. Licensed to Ill was the soundtrack to my childhood.
Some of my favorites
