• Candle - A practice piece to get myself back into Photoshop

This was made COMPLETELY from scratch for the purpose of being a refresher from my long time away from Photoshop. Don't get me wrong, I did put a lot of effort into it, so criticize away. It consists of only 46 layers and was done 100% with a mouse. Go easy ;)
It's good.
Love It! How long did it take you?
More or less 2 hours. But I was watching a movie while doing it so that probably added a couple minutes. Thanks :D
It's pretty sexy. But Instead of gradiating the lover end of the thread into a candle, you should think of some effect to show, that there's molten wax to be had or something. Sorry if it's hard to understand, I'm kind of sleepy.
Looks like it's 3D model. Nice job! The one thing I find odd tough is how the candle melts into a nice cup shape.
Yeah I know, that part doesn't make much sense. I think I was just applying the physics of a large, fat candle to what should be a tall, slender candle. (Judging by the proportion of the flame and the wick to the candle itself.) :) And yeah, I should have made some molten wax dripping off of the wick instead of having it just fade into the puddle. I was honestly just making it up as I went along and I didn't really take into account the physics of the wax, but as for the wick, that was just laziness. I might fix it tomorrow, or just learn from this and store it in my brain for next time. :D [editline]06:19AM[/editline] Here's the PSD for those who wanna explore. ;) http://www.mediafire.com/?3ikymmwytiw
I love the flame! great work.
wow nice as... how did you do the flame? Good effort for a coming back refresh
It looks like a dynamite... But anyway. Good Work.
Ha yeah it kinda does
It's beautiful! :o Only thing that bugs me is the length of that thread or whatever it's called in english. The fire should be closer to the candle :)

Yeah I agree. It's also too thick, but the focus was on retaining my lighting, texture, and overall improvisation skills, so I could've been more concerned about the proportions of the candle. Could definitely use work. :)
Now that I think of it, it almost looks a bit Web 2.0 style.
Looking pretty nice, smooth and clean, awesome job.
Woh, that's really good.
With a mouse?! Awesome
That wick looks kinda weird, almost like it's 2D.
Yea the wick was the first thing I did in the picture. I should have redone it later on.
