Zynga's recently appointed CEO Don Mattrick has been making changes at the social publisher (today announcing Clive Downie as the new COO), but the company's third quarter results show it has a while to go before turning the corner. The hype of facebook games was destined to die out quick.
Eventually people had to catch on to just how much of a waste of time and money those shitty Farmville style games were. They're a complete fucking scam.

They know exactly what they're buying, and they get exactly what they paid for. Exploitative, yes, but not a scam by any means.
Zynga is done for. Sad thing is, this hurts more people than just Zynga. Even the ios games they RFP'd indie devs for are getting shut down. Whole bunch of studios aren't happy right now.
Next is youtube ad revenue.
Good.
Death swings!!

The (sad?) reality is that there's a shitload of people who genuinely enjoy these games and are making ventures into shallow FB games profitable.
They shut down omgpop.com for no reason so it doesn't surprise me.

Your definition of fun and enjoyment might differ heavily from that of another person.
They're getting alot more competition and people are losing interest in these types of games.
I bet many people are going to lose their jobs
Not sad if they are having fun. Your definition of fun and enjoyment might differ heavily from that of another person.
I know, was about to add. It's nice to see gaming more accessible and widespread, though the selfish part of me sitting somewhere in the back of my head would of course still prefer it if the gaming industry could continue to cater primarily to the target group of gamers that I happen to belong to. In the same way that a hockey fan would prefer it if the sports news would continue focusing on hockey when the football season begins, logic be damned.
Next is youtube ad revenue.
that would be AWFUL google already operates youtube at a loss, if that drops even more, either they'll have to devote resources to stopping ad-block, or shut down youtube.
Just fucking die already
They shut down omgpop.com for no reason so it doesn't surprise me.
Fucking shit I wasn't aware of this, I used to play omgpop so much during classes.
Fucking shit I wasn't aware of this, I used to play omgpop so much during classes.
Could have at least kept around DrawMyThing.
Good. I fucking hate this company's products. Facebook-style games are the BANE of the gaming industry. So cheap and flimsy. Facebook was bad enough, but now phone apps/games are trife with products like Zynga's.
Poor Don Mattick man, this guy CANNOT get a break.
