Nintendo has signed a £10 million contract to bring Doctor Who to Wii and DS consoles, according to tabloid reports. The Sun says that the company plans to have the game, which will be based around Matt Smith's Doctor, in shops in time for Christmas 2010. "This has been in the pipeline for years," an insider is quoted as saying. "We're delighted to have finally nailed down a deal. "We went with Nintendo as they have huge appeal for families and Doctor Who is very much a family brand. The Wii console is key for us as it's something families play together." The BBC is apparently keen to monitor the game closely and has rejected anything too violent. The insider continued: "BBC Worldwide, which licenses BBC shows, has been trying to find some way of doing it. But you can't have Doctor Who blowing things to bits with a laser gun. That would massively change the nature of the show."
http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/gaming/s7/doctor-who/news/a208256/doctor-who-game-heads-to-nintendo-wii.html Not particularly interesting, although it's hard to give a damn about BBC Worldwide. In other news, "family brand" and "if this goes through Top Gear is next" also, here's Matt Smith using a blackberry with conviction. God dammit Nintendo ruin everything. Why couldn't this have been taken over by Bethesda or a good gaming developer.
Take it with a pinch of salt given that it is The Sun reporting it.
..Jesus christ i wanted a game where i could leap around as David Tennant and fucking blow up daleks before being vaporized. not a shite puzzle game "CATCH THE TIME BALL AMY POND" shite. with a fucking cunty emo shitwank as the star. David Tennant. why hath thou forsaken us?
What is this Dr Who? I think I've heard of it before somewhere.
It's a show on BBC. Never watched it though.
Ugh Nintendo, why?.
It's a show on BBC. Never watched it though.
That was a joke, both my name and avatar are Dr Who related.
Great finally get a game and it's gonna be shit.
Awesome :v:
The only way i could possibly see this being fun is if it's an intricate puzzle-based game, they had better not ruin it by giving the doctor guns or anything
I think this will end up being an adventure game with puzzles and all that. Not an action game.
We must exterminate the developers before they can complete the game!
Y'know, an adventure game with puzzles might be what Doctor Who would be best as a game. Also, there've been many Doctor Who games in the past, though few remember them.
Matt Smith will be a shit doctor. [editline]04:54PM[/editline]
I think this will end up being an adventure game with puzzles and all that. Not an action game.
It would be cheesy, the Sonic Screwdriver becomes a Ion cannon or something.
Wow, because Doctor Who was good to begin with. British Sci-fi is so bad, it should be left to the people who know what to do. Cheesy acting, cheesy scenarios, cheesy music, and cheesy characters. I've stared into a bag of cheeto's and I have been entertained more than any British Sci-fi.

Wait, wasn't there a a Doctor Who Top Trumps game for the DS? And a lil TARDIS game-thingie in Argos? This isn't news.
Great finally get a game and it's gonna be shit.
But surely a licensed game could not possibly be of low quality!
...surely not one the BBC's spent 10mil on.

And we have superior comedy too. [editline]06:06PM[/editline] It doesn't need to be necessarily good, its just not something you insult. [editline]06:06PM[/editline] Its like taking a piss on the Queen.

Doctor Who is a good show in my opinion, but a game made by Nintendo will be for children. If there was ever to be a true Doctor Who game, I'd like to see it on PC, and made by a good developer. I think BioWare could make an awesome game out of the series. Of course, playing as the Doctor would be interesting, because he isn't too apt to use weapons (generally). Also, Dalek versus Time Lord multiplayer would be holy shit awesome. But, I'm just tossing around ideas.

It's you! Oh yes! ...You're naked! Oh yees!
It's you! Oh yes! ...You're naked! Oh yees!
Haha! That was so funny, Catherine Tate worked in the show but as the series went on from Series two, the more I hated it. I felt like the adventure was lost and it seemed a bit too serious.
I love how op got bad spelling for clearly intentionally making "Video Game" as "vidya gaem", obviously attempting some enlightened humor.
