• PS2 Game Download - Correctly Burning it

Ok, so I downloaded a PS2 game in .iso format. How should I burn it so that I can play it on PS3? And by the way, I bought the game and lost it, so I think its OK if I can get an illegal copy to all of you people who flame pirate copy's. The game is TimeSplitters 2. It's size is slightly bigger than the DVDs I have. Even being so, I managed to use a format called UDF 1.5 to fit it in. When I insert it into the PS3 it shows up as "Data Disc". The game is NTSC, PS3 is NTSC. Any help is greatly appreciated. Any questions are welcome. EDIT: Rate me boxes and stuff, But if you are posting in here you are supposedly trying to help, not just argue whether its illegal to download a copy. I bought the game, you shouldn't be concerned of my legal well being. (User was banned for this post ("Warez" - Benji))
oooo dis is illegal
I would like to inquisition how you obtained the game in question in .iso format.
Read the post before you comment. EDIT: There is a way to burn PS2 Disc data to iso format, that's how I got it. @ carbon knight Yes it is
oooo dis is illegal
Is not. as long as you have bought a legit copy of the original game, its legal.
Read the post before you comment.
and what you could just be saying you own the damn thing this is still illegal lol
Is your PS3 backwards compatible?
Read the post before you comment.
I would like to inform you that I did read the post in question, and I would also like to inform you that my previous comment was half of a two-part statement.
There is a way to burn PS2 Disc data to iso format, that's how I got it.
No, you downloaded it off a torrent. If you extracted the data off the disk yourself, I wouldn't be saying this
No, you downloaded it off a torrent.
Yes I did.

Obviously it will not magically work. It has protection so that you can't do that. You can gut your PS3 and install swap magic if you really want it to work or you can buy your game for £5
And by the way, I bought the game and lost it, so I think its OK if I can get an illegal copy to all of you people who flame pirate copy's.
If you lost the game and no longer own a copy of it then I'm pretty sure it's illegal to download another copy. I could very well be wrong though. I also believe that you would do better placing this in the 'General Games Discussion' section as well as it seems far more appropriate a location for this discussion.

No, actually it's not legal. Creating duplicates is illegal. Ripping the image off a disk though and playing it on an emulator like PCSX2, is not illegal. If it's the other way around, it's illegal.
Have you tried a DVD-DL? I never had a PS2, so I don't know if those are supported.
If you dump your own BIOS it is
Way to misread his post.
Ye i bought halo 3 brb gonna download and burn 500 copies of it because its OK if you own it :downs:
Thats not what he's saying you idiot, he is saying he legitimately bought it, lost it and now is downloading one copy to replace the lost copy.
Thats not what he's saying you idiot, he is saying he legitimately bought it, lost it and now is downloading one copy to replace the lost copy.
So what is the difference between losing the game and selling it? Either way, someone else is probably going to end up having it.
You can't mod a PS3 to play burnt PS2 games, obviously not if you don't have a backwards compatible PS3, but also if you have a compatible PS3. The PS2 playback is not hardware, but an emulator, so you can't mod it. So you either have to use an emulator or buy a cheap, modded ps2.
www.google.co.uk also have you got the 60gb or are you assuming they all play ps2 games
Most PS3's can't even play PS2 games anyway, so you probably just wasted your time.
Most PS3's can't even play PS2 games anyway, so you probably just wasted your time.
Got corrected, the first gen ones can. Edit: Currently, there is no way to play backed up PS2 games on the PS3 without modding your PS3. Still looking into it.
Yes they can, where the fuck have you been? Anyway, OP, just burn it onto a disc in NTSC or PAL. It should support both.
They removed compatibility later on in the hardware cycle, around the time the price dropped. A PS3 that rolls right off the assembly line now would not play PS2 games. I wouldn't say most cannot, though. You can still easily find ones with backwards-compatibility. Check Wikipedia to find out which models.
My ps3 for example, is not backwards compatible. It's one of the thin ones
I'd say most can't, seeing as they don't make any new ones that do and constant ps3 slims are being produced. Though I agree they are easy to find. They can be very overpriced for a ps2 with a built in Bluray player
