I think the reason it wasn't a red was because it was early in the first half, and it being the final you don't want to have one of two pretty equally matched teams down a man.
Still Holland got what was coming to them for the dirty as hell way they played that game. Spain won, and Alonso wasn't seriously injured.
What you don't understand is that the octopus isn't psychic, Paul is just controlling the referees with it's mob ties.
If the referee had red carded the game would have been ruined. I thought he was a good ref.
I rarely watch soccer, but I watched all of this match. If all of soccer is like this, it is probably the filthiest pussy sport ever to have a world cup.
My god, people were dropping left and right for everything from a tiny touch of the foot to stares. Is this what professional football is like? What a bunch of crybabies.
Some of the injuries were of course real, but the ratio of real ones to fakes is still laughable.
Sometimes you saw the guys fall over and limp towards the referee with their arms in the air, and as soon as the ref clears it, they turn right around and run back to their posts.
Hell, sometimes the offender even fell over and grabbed his shins to gain sympathy from the ref, so he wouldn't get a card.
If this is what the highest form of "The Beautiful Game" is like, I'm really not impressed :colbert:

I never once criticized their agility, it's amazing that they can keep this level of play up for so long.
This does not excuse their petty tricks to try and gain an advantage through penalties, injuring other players, and stalling.
