okey, so i have thoughts on making my own LARP-weapon for a troll race character, but not entire sure how to do....
Only thing i know it should be similar to "epicarmoury-quality" and look like its made most out of wood.
So, anyone got experience about it since before? Whats good material for a newbie to start off with and got a small income?
BTW, i live in sweden so material costs are often a bit more expensive than rest of the world (because...sweden)
yeah i know theres lots of info on the net, but mostly high-cost and higher-than-nothing-experience-stuff
Svartakatten.com is your best bet. Get some Celoen, a fibre-glass rod, a sander, latex and paint. Hey presto!
heard way too much bad about them, but never tried their products myself tho...
think stuff exists on like biltema/jula?
Biltema got tons of useful cheap stuff.
Just look on their website or something.
I've made quite a few props in my time. Many high quality combat props are made from a mixture of plastics with usually a carbonfibre core for stability.
You can make cheaper ones from fibreglass and car filler, or prototype ones from highdensity foam.
I don't know what you're going for, maybe if you post a picture or a drawing of what you want it to look like, and how it's going to be used. I know that last bit sounds silly, but you need to suit the material you want it made from to suit the purpose of the prop.

As far as I've heard Celoen is the best material to construct from and everything else pales in comparison to it.

thoughts on something in the way of this:

And be durable enough to stand some hits...

Hmf...think i shall try out sleeping mats at first, but probably going to order celoen in the future...
I havn't come across celoen before, but after doing a bit of research it actually seems like a good material. One thing I'd like to know is if you can melt/cut it with a hot wire cutter, this would speed up the process of adding in the wood grooves. Ofcourse you can use craft tools, but it'd take a while.
You'll need a core handle running through the club. You can either use aluminium rod/carbon fibre rod or any other metal material if you want a bit more weight. I'd personally go for carbon-fibre tubing.
For the centre of the club, either high density foam or fibreglass a rudimentary shape.
(I've seen people get away with making a box-like structure from thick card, then fibreglassing over it) This will give you the rough shape. Glue the Celoen sheeting on with either epoxy resin or evo-stik 528. You can always glue on more layers for more padding and shape.
Using sheeting isn't really the best way, just because it's difficult to hold down the corners when you wrap it around shapes - nevertheless it is one of the cheapest methods.
