First animated feature by [B]Studio Ponoc[/B], which is made up from former Ghibli artists.
It all just looks too familiar, like it is a mix of all the previous work, instead of being something new and exciting.

Why does it need to be something new and exciting?
The protagonist and the fish-men effect are too similar to Ponyo, the cat and broomstick flying is too similar to Kiki's Delivery Service.

Studio Ghibli movies are great because there is nothing like them. This is too derivative of their previous works.
So it's a bootleg Studio Ghibli making a bootleg Miyazaki film? Because that's what it looks like. It's got the art and animation, but I'm getting the feeling it'll be lacking in the creativity department as far as the story, world building, and characters go.

Every Miyazaki film has it's own world built around a unique story, no two movies are the same. This really is just an amalgamation of previous Miyazaki films.
