Ivanka Trump is meeting Monday with climate change activist and former vice president Al Gore.
The President-elect's daughter, who reportedly wants to make global warming one of her signature issues, will meet with Gore at Trump Tower in Manhattan, according to transition spokesman Jason Miller.

Ivanka has close ties to influential Democrats and she has supported causes traditionally more dear to the left than to conservatives. This includes pushing her father to support an expansive child care policy.
Interesting developments.
Interesting. So considering she's part of the family, would Trump be more likely to take action on climate change, or at least global warming?
I mean, in my opinion, doing it because family said so is not the same as doing it for the greater good, but it's there.
I thought she was trying to step out of the political light? At least, that's what I got from the 60 Minutes interview.
It doesn't matter much. Even if she manages to influence Trump on the subject, there's no way she's going to turn the rest of his administration around. That damage has been dealt, unless they switch out secretaries.
Even if Trump comes to realize the truth behind climate change, it won't matter much when he's appointed a climate change denier to the head of the EPA, promised to remove and reduce almost all environmental regulations, and has to work with a republican controlled congress; the latter which can pass extremely damaging measures for our environment's future which can't be stopped without a presidential veto, something the presidential elect and the republicans have scathingly criticized Obama for doing in the past.

Plus he's already promised to reject the Paris climate agreements, so there's that too.
I feel like Trump NEEDS Ivanka. And not in the haha so funny incest memes. Like he can't function as a normal person.
shit I'd actually rather have her helping him.
Behind all men are great women.
Jesus I'm glad climate change talks are happening but please not with Gore of all people.
time to start the conspiracy that Ivanka is a Russian spy taking advantage of an aging and possibly mentally inept Donald Trump to boost russian power and paint the white house red

Whats wrong with Gore? Other than Musk no one else really is obsessed with facing the issue of climate change and carbon pollution.
Gore was the man who spearheaded legislation in Congress to expand public access to what eventually became the Internet because he understood the potential in it when no other politician really cared.
I'd actually rather have Ivanka as President right now since she seems to actually function as a person.

ya hes basically nominated the most anti GW cabinet ever assembled and congress where any legislative action needs to happen is still run by ryan a climate skeptic and mconnel whos got coal for brains

What's wrong with Gore? :s:
What's wrong with Gore? :s:
Probably a conservative poster who sees Gore and thinks:
Gore VP to Clinton
Clinton bad.
Therefore Gore is also bad.
The problem I have with Gore is that like Clinton he was a complete and utter moron during his presidential campaign (for different reasons; Gore was like "Let's not campaign with a popular president because he had a sex scandal nobody ACTUALLY cared about!"; Clinton for simply not fucking campaigning).

Thanks for that. Glad to see I can't have an opposing opinion without getting branded an asshole.
Gore is a hack who's been caught on more than one occasion to have fabricated evidence to support his claims.
Hell, "an inconvenient truth" was more "bwaaaah I didn't get elected also my son got hit by a car" than it was climate change like it was said to have been.
Talk to anybody else, just not Gore.

Was this post necessary?

This part wasn't necessary either.

What the fuck is your problem
Wasnt Gore like the first politician to talk about global warming on a national scale?

She will probably end up being the real "first lady". Melania can barely even speak English.

Okay, I apologize for going overboard with the generalizing but I feel like you may have slightly validated what I said.
What evidence did he fabicrate? The "I invented the internet" which he did not even actually say and the real sentence was twisted for the past decade and a half by the right? What else was there for him to make up?
Seeing how he is the only politician in recent times other than Bernie Sanders who talks about real issues and actually advance society using public office and not just to appease voters I find it hard to believe there is anything to attack him over other than being a complete snorefest like Hillary was.
I was like 5 when he ran for office so I don't even know anything about his campaign and any information about it will be buried deep within the web.
Gore is okay. He's a figurehead on the issue, whether he deserves it or not. There are more expert people that she could be meeting with instead of Gore, though. He's a bit of an alarmist, and probably the reason why the issue has been so politicized.
Small bit on some of Gore's inaccurate claims, which were countered by even more inaccurate claims by a denier.

Stop. I'm not talking about his work with the web. Do not even start that.
Yes he was a big proponent of fighting against climate change and thats great and it needs to happen, but he outright lied about his data's validity and in many cases he was found to just be factually incorrect. The graphs he provided showing temperature were not accurate, they did not come from where he said they did, and all his campaigning did was entrench climate change deniers in their opinion as soon as he was found to have presented falsified data.
At the very least his understanding of the topic was conveyed so terribly that he alone arguably did more damage to climate change science than those who campaign against it.
Awesome. Excited for this and am interested to see how democrats turn this into something bad
Isn't she supposed to be running the Trump business?
Behind all men are great women.
It's "behind every great man..." But we can't really say that with him, can we?

If she's going to be in charge of the business that's some good fucking leverage right there.
does trump have to go with the cabinet he currently has nominated or could he pull a 180 before inauguration day
does trump have to go with the cabinet he currently has nominated or could he pull a 180 before inauguration day
Maybe. Has he actually nominated anyone for EnergySec yet? I know he was looking into a oil tycoon, a former president of a nuclear organization and some congressman but I haven't heard anything about a nomination yet
So I guess the Trump kids can only get involved in their dads politics if it suits the left.
