Choosing a name is often serious business for parents. And it's no wonder, given that a number of psychological studies have shown that a person's name can influence subsequent events in their life. The new prince's father, Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, was named William Arthur Philip Louis at birth. His father, Charles, Prince of Wales, was called Charles Philip Arthur George by his royal parents. I wonder how my name would affect me seeing as it's one of those weird pacific names that almost nobody else has.
If, for some weird reason, in the future, I have a child, I'm totally naming him Julian if he's a boy. I love that name. Also, Nikolai is a great name.
Well, my name literally translates to "World". So when I sometimes hear my name when people refer to the "World Wide Web" or some shit like that in the language of origination. Dunno how much that's affected me other than all my professor's thinking I'm French.
my name means white hawk as if i wasnt white enough
I think it's pretty obvious that names impact us in ways. Parents who give their kids stupid names like that dumbass in the US who named his son Adolf Hitler should stop being selfish fucks because that kid would be bullied throughout his life unless the kid got a name change.
My name is a goddamn hassle when applying for anything since they always spell it fucking wrong. My school, insurance, airports, dmv, etc all spelled it wrong at some point. (My name is Aleksandr) So yeah it impacts me in a minor yet annoying way.
Honestly, I find myself attaching personality traits to certain names, and finding that a lot of them seem to work out. Like "Camden" sounds like a really small guy, and "Roscoe" sounds like a dirtbag, or something. I dunno why.

I'm named after a constellation, does that make me an astronaut?

I looked up "traits associated with names" and found this comedy gold:

My name means "the friendly" in Latin I also share it with a swedish children's book character.
My name is alright until people put Skid and Book before it...
I feel bad for whoever is named Gertrude.
My parents aren't very creative, I have the same name as every male on my dad's side of the family. We traced it back at least 10 generations. I guess I can put X at the end of my name.

If that isn't badass, I don't know what is.
The psychology of names is well known. As such its been a result for classism and stereotyping for decades, hundreds of years.
I think the Royal Baby's going to be impacted by a lot more than his name, though. Like, if the name does affect what he does with his life, it'll be a teeny tiny dent in the huge crater representing the fact that he's freaking royalty.
I have personally known at least 10 people with the same name as me. It's kind of frustrating.
My name is a bit of an hassle since I have to spell it everytime I go abroad. It also doesn't fit on forms generally since I have 5 names in total.
I got mocked in school for being named Jerry because of Tom N' Jerry
Name it Asshole. [sp]Pronounced Ashley.[/sp]
That was a pretty darn interesting read. I've never liked my name. It sounds so rough and German. I feel like my name channels a university-level history professor with a monotone. It's just so stoic and somber when it's all said out loud. I'd much prefer a shorter, more direct sort of name. Even just dropping my gutteral last name and adopting my middle name for the closer would be an improvement. Zachary Fletcher, or Zach Fletcher sounds like a writer's name. Professional, and not too stuffy. Still, it's unlikely I'll ever change my name! So long as I've got family around, I figure they'd think I was being goofy!
I'm named after a guy who loved pissing off half the people around him by nailing things to church doors. I guess I'm a little more creative in the methodology, but the result's the same.
i'm waiting for the people to bitch about them giving the baby a normally male name. "did you ask the baby what name it wanted just like its gender identity?"
My first born will be named Odin.
my mom named me after a dog
