The UN watchdog for children's rights said the Holy See must "immediately remove" all clergy who are known or suspected child abusers. It heavily criticised the Vatican's attitudes towards homosexuality, contraception and abortion. The Vatican has set up a commission to fight child abuse in the Church. In a report released on Wednesday, the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child (CRC) said the Holy See should open its files on members of the clergy who "concealed their crimes" so that they can be held accountable.[/quote]
Has the Australian Royal Commission into sexual abuse within the Church and other religious organizations sparked all these other commissions?
Good! The church is allowing criminals to walk free for a long time now, good on the UN to say something about it.
These are good news, just because you're a man of religion doesn't mean that common sense and laws don't apply to you.

Out of curiosity, how would are UN Watchdogs formed? Are they members of specific nations? Free observers?

eh U.N. guys, its a bit late, the cats out of the bag the church is already going after it anyway
Pope exommunicates UN, world declares war on UN.
not only should they go after the pedophile priests, they should go after the ones that actively helped move those priests to different parishes to escape justice
