Washington (CNN) -- The United States will cut off aid to Egypt in the wake of the July coup against President Mohamed Morsy and the turmoil that has followed, a U.S. official said Tuesday. The Obama administration withheld some military aid to Egypt in August.
http://www.cnn.com/2013/10/08/us/egypt-aid/ I notice the typo, sorry guys :/
They should get a dictator. That will guarantee US aid.
by an "accumulation of events," including recent violence against protesters, dozens of whom were killed over the weekend.
Why does Egypt get a different standard? Other countries getting aid can commit atrocities.
See, now why is it that all of you people talk so much shit about us but when we start cutting off aid you act as though we have committed a war crime. You can't have it both ways, world.
They should be Jewish. that will guarantee US aid.
The aid was too loose

Military rule in Egypt doesn't befit the Americans so aid is gone. Atrocities committed by Israel against the Palestinians don't matter though, Israel will still get aid.
I suppose their relations weren't really tight [editline]9th October 2013[/editline] I dont think this even makes sense
I suppose their relations weren't really tight [editline]9th October 2013[/editline] I dont think this even makes sense
It works for the slang definition of tight http://tight.urbanup.com/807081#.UlSu-Ix_ylk.twitter

Not the Israeli case of course, but we don't have to send aid to anyone. It just kind of seems like two brothers arguing about getting an equal amount of their neighbors fruit. How much aid do the other first world nations give to other countries?
They had a loose connection to us from the start
They should be Jewish. that will guarantee US aid.
post #4 and we're already at this stage
post #4 and we're already at this stage
This matters though, we sponsor state terrorism in some countries, but if there is turmoil in a country we will stop sending aid. And while I admit that it probably plays into some sort of international geopolitical plan we cannot run around touting freedom and righteousness when we do hypocritical things like this.
Should have fastened it tighter, I guess.
post #4 and we're already at this stage
Its a fact that Israel gets special treatment from the US.
Finally. US should stop getting into people's issues.

A country acting with its best interest in mind! How could they!
OH GOD! A country acting with its best interest in mind! How could they!
Yes, lets massacre and oppress the Palestinians. Definitely within the interests of every American citizen. I don't disagree that the American government has the right to aid whomever they wish but at least be consistent about it.
I don't disagree that the American government has the right to aid whomever they wish but at least be consistent about it.
Wait, what? They can give aid to whoever they want, but they need to be consistent? Consistent in giving aid to who they want? I'm not quite getting your point.
Personally, I believe this could actually be the right decision. Egypt is very volatile right now and giving aid to this coup would antagonize a lot of people against the US for supporting it.
OH GOD! A country acting with its best interest in mind! How could they!
In the case of US aid to Israel the US isn't even acting with its best interest in mind though. The aid is a result of intensive lobbying and dumbass evangelicals that want to see "bibilical prophecy" fulfilled. Israel is a strategic liability to the US, it has been since the cold war.
a strategic liability is considered a good interest
Its a fact that Israel gets special treatment from the US.
not because they are jewish lol
a strategic liability is considered a good interest
A strategic liability undermines our security, it has to be removed.

Since I'm not privy to national security information I won't make a hardline comment on the matter.
A strategic liability undermines our security, it has to be removed.
i know how much you hate jews, arabs, blacks, feminists, trayvon martin supporters, pro-choice activists, women, israelis, lithuanians, indians, native americans, samoans, hawaiians, pacific islanders, polacks, gays, transexuals, bisexuals, pansexuals, canada, estonians, zionists, and christians, but you really have to tone it down
Obviously the people in government disagree with you. Since I'm not privy to national security information I won't make a hardline comment on the matter.
That doesn't mean they're right or that they're acting out of the best interests for the US though.
That doesn't mean they're right or that they're acting out of the best interested for the US though.
True, but it also means you simply don't have the information to make any sort of definitive argument on the matter.
True, but it also means you simply don't have the information to make any sort of definitive argument on the matter.
US support for Israel was the key motivating factor for the 93' WTC bombing and the 9/11 attacks, I think that is all anyone needs to know to recognize Israel as a strategic liability.
US support for Israel was the key motivating factor for the 93' WTC bombing and the 9/11 attacks, I think that is all anyone needs to know to recognize Israel as a strategic liability.
US support for France/The UK/etc. was the key motivating factor for Japan bombing us, therefore they were strategic liabilities. It isn't as simple as that.
not because they are jewish lol
Americans have strong sympathies towards the Zionist cause for some reason.
Americans have strong sympathies towards the Zionist cause for some reason.
Honestly, I think the simple fact that the Jews have been the most consistently oppressed people group in human history makes people sympathetic to their desire and need for a homeland.
