Despite it's name, there is nothing of the dark sorts to be found here.

This is my first drawing with my tablet that I received as an extremely late Christmas present today, as a result of many, many hours sitting against the screen of my MacBook. What I picture for this is a large canyon in the background, with snowy mountains behind it. In the canyon will be a misconceived river that looks 'small'. Around the river, on the banks, will be trees.
So, guys, what do you think of my painting?
Comments and Constructive-criticism, please.
Any tips?
UPDATE II;
Well, I think I did well with the piece, though I must admit it looks better when you can see the whole thing instead of just a piece at a time, or half the picture. Note, this is something I did for myself, and no, mabye it won't be up to your standards. Mabye you won't like the style I did, but plain and simple, I like it.

Doesn't look bad, you should work more on the shading =)
I'd like to see those snowy mountains, I love snowy mountains =D
Don't really understand what's on the left. Is it a tree, with bark missing? If so, the texture really doesn't look like bark. Your style seems quite cartoony though, so depending on what you want you might want to leave it. If you want a more realistic effect, it really needs more shading and better texture, grass and rock included.
Can't really judge how good it will be this far into it. You've not got much done so far.
I second the snowy mountains
I don't understand?
Is the perspective majorly fucked up or is it just an angle.
You're missing shading on, well everything.
Go to google images and look how bark and cliffs really look like.
For cliffs go check work our own Xmallew has done, he does it in mspaint, granted, but it'll give you some good ideas.
It is an angle, I'm working on the mountains, and I know I'm missing realism, but I want to get acquainted with my tablet before I take it out to dinner. :v:
It's finished and stuff.
