Oh wow, i seriously thought this died years ago :v: So what is this game like, any players here?
Oh wow, i seriously thought this died years ago :v: So what is this game like, any players here?
It's fun, I haven't played consistently since Season 10 but I just enjoy being able to trick out a ship from Star Trek and blow up some Borg from time to time. I would definitely recommend trying it if you're interested, it's free to play and almost everything is available without having to pay a cent (with enough grinding).
It's a good game but the ground combat is terrible. Everything else is pretty good, ship combat is really good, but god damn is the on foot stuff bad
but god damn is the on foot stuff bad
And that's after they revamped the ground combat.
I recently came to realize that the ground combat is just ripped from City of Heroes, I think they ran out of money time or effort halfway through its development and called it a day. Space combat is pretty fun, I use to like doing the mirror universe event and fighting massive hoards of starships

CBS wanted them to release it around the same time as the previous MMO attempt was meant to come out. [editline]27th January 2017[/editline] I've been playing this game since launch (7 years!), and I'm not gotten tired of it. Now I don't play as often as I did 4-5 years ago, but I'm on at least 2 times a week.
Yeah I've been playing it on and off since it hit beta, usually when a new season drops. Its probably one of the best F2P mmo's out there because you can access pretty much all of the content, you don't start running into paywalls until you near endgame. I also think I've seen Total Biscuit play it a couple times, pretty sure its one of his guilty pleasures.

Is it worthwhile playing this game if you're a fan of TNG and Voyager?
Is it worthwhile playing this game if you're a fan of TNG and Voyager?
It takes place after those. plenty of ships you seen in the shows are in it. The actual Voyager appears in it with Tuvok in command.
Oh wow, i seriously thought this died years ago :v: So what is this game like, any players here?
Space combat is fun, ground combat is unimaginably dull, lots of systems feel kind of pointless and half-baked.
Is it worthwhile playing this game if you're a fan of TNG and Voyager?
It's worth it if you're a fan of any Star Trek.
Is it worthwhile playing this game if you're a fan of TNG and Voyager?
It is. Hell leveling is actually kind of fun because you feel like you're advancing in the ranks of Starfleet, rather than watching a number tick over. You get to customize the look of your ship a bit, its colors, and the name that's on the hull. And it's you and your ship in those quiet sectors exploring anomalies
Is it worthwhile playing this game if you're a fan of TNG and Voyager?
You'll actually get to meet various crew members from the show actually, like Worf, Tasha Yar (The Romulan version), Spock before Nimoy's death, some of the actors from DS9 return, such as Nog, most of the cast and crew of Voyager, Tuvok, Tom Paris, The Doctor, Seven of Nine and more show up, of which an entire season of "episodes" basically story missions was dedicated to returning to the Delta Quadrant and seeing what sort of effect they had on it and bringing back some very interesting lingering plot points. As a massive fan I really do enjoy it.
Tasha Yar (The Romulan version)
Sela and Tasha
Sela and Tasha
Yeah, technically Tasha shows up in that one mission where the timeline get's screwed up you are right and for some reason I just couldn't remember Empress Selas name.
I really enjoy this game, but I did get a bit tired of updating because their launcher is just awful. So I haven't really played much the last couple of years.
I haven't played since the last 2 updates due to basically stalling, but all I did play was great. I wonder how this is gonna be.
I haven't played since the last 2 updates due to basically stalling, but all I did play was great. I wonder how this is gonna be.
Well you have a lot of catch up on.
Well you have a lot of catch up on.
I'd imagine. They don't seem to go small with their updates.
IMO, most of the story in STO is pretty much standard MMO fare with a Star Trek theme.
IMO, most of the story in STO is pretty much standard MMO fare with a Star Trek theme.
Eh I'd have to disagree. Maybe the mission objectives can be standard MMO, but the story no. Most missions in the last few years have Voice Over and cutscenes
Do you have to pay for the seasons?
Do you have to pay for the seasons?
No.
No.
Might have to give the game another go then, never got that far into it
Eh I'd have to disagree. Maybe the mission objectives can be standard MMO, but the story no. Most missions in the last few years have Voice Over and cutscenes
Most of the voice acting is pretty meh, and the stories mostly still feel like a Star Trek themed "Here is your biannual Army of Evil" MMO stuff. Ironically, I think the best thing about the Delta Quadrant story was Neelix, because his voice acting was so much better than anything else I've heard.
One of the few games I actually forked out money for a specific item. Got me a good ol Odyssey. It's so beautiful
