I'm impressed, though for some reason it felt quite random...
Very informative, I had no idea it took two months.
Nice info video.
There's one showing an IBM cpu from "How it's made," it's a bit shorter and has better quality, but you should still watch the op's because it's more descriptive.

First time I read about it, it blew my mind.
amazing
1500 posts
Holy fuck, actually amazing how far we've pushed technology oO
Also, amd in germany, my country :smug:
I know understand why computer engineers get payed so much.
so, all of that work is for the center square piece of the wafer... why don't they just make that part?

I'd imagine because it's a lot easier to ruin the wafer when it isn't protected.
It's hard to understand when they don't actually show the process and just describe it using lame CGI.
...Then we go ahead and put them the wrong way round in a motherboard. Lovely.
I hate the way he says "wafers" it's more like "WAYFORZ"
I still don't understand how something as simple as an on and off can produce the heart of a computer. millions on and off's manage to do that.
I wonder what it's like designing the patterns for chips. Must take a fucking long time. And the people doing it must be geniuses.
Wow I had no idea how complex CPU's are.

Probably because it would involve staring at a large, humming, windowless vacuum chamber for several hours.
what was it, 100,000,000,000 transistors? Cannot imagine.

Speed it up, slow it down, whatever. The other videos in this thread showed more of that kind of stuff and it was fine.
