Who really knows what happened the night that Martin Duram was shot and killed in his Michigan home last spring? Perhaps, his pet parrot witnessed the killing and heard Mr Duram’s desperate plea to the killer. In a story that will be seized on by lovers of television detective shows, Mr Duram’s parents are seeking to persuade police to make use of a video of their son’s pet parrot in which the rough-mouth African grey says: “Don’t f***king shoot”. Mr Duram, 45, was shot and killed in his home in Ensley Township in what police first thought was a double-murder. Police also found his wife, Glenna, in the home with a gunshot wound to the head. They realised an hour later that she was still alive.
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/parrot-who-allegedly-witnessed-murder-cant-stop-saying-dont-fing-shoot-a7063646.html Video is censored, if anyone finds an uncensored version please post
Those birds are pretty smart, so they maybe able to get some information even if its just random statements the bird has heard.
Police also found his wife, Glenna, in the home with a gunshot wound to the head. They realised an hour later that she was still alive.
God damn, that sucks.
God damn, that sucks.
Not for long. She won't make it.
Those birds are pretty smart, so they maybe able to get some information even if its just random statements the bird has heard.
The bird did it.
Fucking snitch.
Not for long. She won't make it.
If Kill Bill is anything to go by, she will. Then she'll go on a roaring rampage of revenge.
The bird did it.
THE PERFECT CRIME. No one ever suspects the bird. No but really though, this sucks. Wonder if the bird has and idea that his owners are dead. They are pretty smart things.
Eerie as fuck.
THE PERFECT CRIME. No one ever suspects the bird. No but really though, this sucks. Wonder if the bird has and idea that his owners are dead. They are pretty smart things.
He witnessed it if the story is to be believed. That almost perfect imitation is the weirdest part here. I've never heard a parrot sound so human. Someone suggested a form of bird PTSD causing it to remember perfectly. It sounds like a tape recorder
Not for long. She won't make it.

Now, Michigan State Police reports obtained by 24 Hour News 8 under the Freedom of Information Act list the wife as a suspect, suggesting she tried to pull off a murder-suicide. She has since recovered from her injury and has denied shooting her husband, according to those documents. “I know for a fact I didn’t kill my husband,” police quoted her as saying.

Now, Michigan State Police reports obtained by 24 Hour News 8 under the Freedom of Information Act list the wife as a suspect, suggesting she tried to pull off a murder-suicide.
Wait, so they don't have any real suspects and the bird is the only witness? What is this, bloody Jonathan Creek? Were the people found in separate locked rooms as well?
It is kind of weird the wife has no story at all being a supposed victim in a crime that may have had "don't fucking shoot!" said in it Did the shooter come for the wife and blast her first and kill the husband as a witness? Or is she full of shit? [editline]4th June 2016[/editline] It'd help a lot if they could get the parrot to repeat other phrases or see how it reacts to the wife's presence [editline]4th June 2016[/editline] I wonder if there's another article about this case, it suggests that the parrot is a new development in an unsolved murder from awhile ago. May have more info such as wounds, weapons etc. Would they have placed her as a suspect without a smoking gun or realistic suicide wound? [editline]4th June 2016[/editline] http://fox17online.com/2015/05/13/state-police-conducting-investigation-at-home-near-sand-lake/ http://fox17online.com/2015/10/01/documents-shooting-victims-wife-joked-about-waiting-for-him-to-die/ First sources I could find on it that wasn't about the parrot. Apparently the dude was shot 5 times and once in the head. That (being that she apparently had a single head wound) and report that the wife joked about waiting for him to die prior to this must be why they suspect her. [editline]4th June 2016[/editline] Shit she's an avid gambler and the kids are the ones saying she'd talk about waiting for him to die for an inheritance lol Now I totally understand why she's a suspect
Shit she's an avid gambler and the kids are the ones saying she'd talk about waiting for him to die for an inheritance lol Now I totally understand why she's a suspect
I was going to say that it's always insurance scams in crime dramas, I think killing for inheritance is close enough. Waiting for the male victim's body to turn out to be a body double now, with the real guy in on the act all along. Where's the lady from Murder She Wrote when you need her?
http://www.mlive.com/news/grand-rapids/index.ssf/2016/01/martin_duram.html Apparently one of the "children" was 23 and found suicide notes signed by the wife. It really doesn't look good for her at all lol [editline]4th June 2016[/editline] A lot of these articles are saying police aren't explaining the wife's wound details either it seems, just that it took months of rehabilitation and that its so bad she looked dead when they arrived [editline]4th June 2016[/editline] But yeah Menein definitely strangely like a crime drama episode. I wouldn't be surprised if CSI/Criminal Minds/L&W or another show adapted this for an episode [editline]4th June 2016[/editline] If this isn't on at least ID network as a documentary or something down the line it's wasted potential

Requires dedication to shoot yourself in the fucking head for an inheritance.
Requires dedication to shoot yourself in the fucking head for an inheritance.
if she was suicidal (suggested just a bit above) hiring a hitman on herself (and her husband out of spite apparently) wouldn't be suprising, inheritance/insurance would go to their next of kin

This is some Double Indemnity shit right here. Woman trying to kill her husband for inheritance/insurance money. The parrot is just the icing on the cake. This sounds like the plot of a Jim Carrey movie. "The Plaintiff calls the witness to the stand" *somebody brings the parrot in a bird cage and sets it on top of the witness stand*
Isn't there an episode like this in Columbo or Murder She Wrote or some other detective series already?

My god it doesn't even sound like it has that little "parrot voice" lisp when it speaks. It full on sounds like the guy who died. That's just eerie as ever living fuck.
Haha I saw this on my local news a few days ago (it happened around here). I wonder if they could use this as some sort of evidence in the court. Maybe not as direct evidence of her actually shooting him, but evidence that she had at least threatened him before. http://woodtv.com/2016/06/03/meet-bud-parrot-possible-murder-witness/
OH hey new footage, thanks Definitely unique aspect to the story.
