"We have never given up on releasing 'The Interview' and we're excited our movie will be in a number of theaters on Christmas Day," said Michael Lynton, Chairman and CEO of Sony Entertainment. "At the same time, we are continuing our efforts to secure more platforms and more theaters so that this movie reaches the largest possible audience."

pretty funny if it was all a plot
Good, I didn't like giving in like before.
choo choo bitch, get out the damn way

Sony realizes movie is terrible, makes up a fake NK attack, movie profits through the roof.

What fake attack?
I'm expecting this movie to get a solid 5/10 on IMDB simply due to the overhype and inevitable disappointment.
limited theater release though, not all theaters everywhere will be showing it so :/

Better than none

I wasn't expecting it to be good to begin with. Anything with Rogen immediately makes me lose any and all interest.
Guys, what if the movie turns out to be shit and all this was for nothing

Who cares if you don't like the movie or actors. They're releasing it as a 'fuck you' to North Korea for being idiots for the last 60 years
pretty funny if it was all a plot
If it was, there's some genius sitting there at Sony.
I just heard that they are showing the movie here in 15 theatres but they didn't tell which :/
Yeah, releasing a bunch of private personal information is definitely the work of a "genius."
Yeah, pretty much, if that was a part of the plan that got the president of the USA to promote their movie, yup.

Rogen's the best! I haven't seen a single movie with him in it that I didn't like. He's genuinely a good actor, and a great guy.

One is showing it near me in the Baltimore area. Just Google it...
Proof that I only have to drive 15 mins to see it: http://www.wbaltv.com/news/baltimore-county-movie-theater-to-show-the-interview/30373124

WBAL-TV 11 News reached out to movie theaters in the Baltimore area, and so far, only Eastpoint 10 Cinemas on Eastern Avenue confirmed they will begin showing the movie on Christmas Day. Joe Jackson, the theater's general manager, told 11 News showtimes are 11:40 a.m., 1 p.m., 2:10 p.m., 3:30 p.m., 4:40 p.m., 6:00 p.m., 7:10 p.m., 8:30 p.m. and 9:40 p.m. Jackson said measures have been taken to ensure public safety.

While that would be an ingenious PR scheme, I don't imagine Sony would release employee Social Security information, private emails between high-level employees, or their other recent films unless they actively wanted to lose profit and get sued into oblivion.
Been said before and it'll be said again: the Streisand effect is a bitch.
Having built sufficient hype, they are now looking forward to raking in waaaay more money than they were going to make before.
I think I remember reading that the hacked e-mails showed Sony executives panicking because focus groups were reporting that the movie was painfully unfunny and just all-around horrible. If anything, they probably decided to "pull" the release just to build hype for a few days before changing their minds and releasing it again.
They have some seriously smart PR guys working for them. They spun this whole thing into making it your patriotic duty to go see this movie and snub North Korea.

yes because sony can control what an individual theater chain decides to show
half the screens in the nation out of their own free will said "we're not gonna show the interview"
you don't go ahead with a blockbuster movie with half the screens in the nation not showing it
a lot of places still aren't going to show it
They're releasing it as a 'fuck you' to North Korea for being idiots for the last 60 years
yeah man, that'll sure show them for putting their brainwashed, starving citizens in death camps and torturing + executing them for decades. consider NK well and truly owned
a lot of places still aren't going to show it
And those places that choose not to are soft and should feel ashamed
God dammit, I just fucking saw a movie yesterday.
There are movie theatres open on Christmas day?
[editline]24th December 2014[/editline]
I've never known anyone to be like, 'hey let's go to the local cinema' on christmas, just me?
Whilst I'm happy that this movie is coming out, I think the hackers still have stuff that could compromise a lot of people. I'm worried for Sony and its employees.
I'm glad it's getting released because I don't like the idea of creative freedoms being held hostage, but at the same time I'm now getting the impression that the film itself won't warrant all the attention it got and will just be disappointing.

Not everyone gives a shit about Christmas.
