I love this shit
The runners of the speedrun basically, to my knowledge, used glitches and certain button movements to essentially fuck with the game's coding while the game was running: through this, they literally programmed two mini games into the game itself.
what the hell is going on I don't get it :v: I never played that game so, pardon my ignorance
What just happened?
what the hell is going on I don't get it :v: I never played that game so, pardon my ignorance
This person is using cheats, so he's sort of like "bhoping" (like in counter-strike) in this game. EDIT: Yeah, and like the other user said, cheats and what not.
On an unrelated note, I was able to watch this video in 4K resolution with no framerate issues whatsoever. Why doesn't this work properly on YouTube itself?
This clip was shown live on AGDQ 2014, it was really cool to see. On a related note, if you're interested in speedrunning (mostly by humans but some TAS stuff as well) then I recommend checking out AGDQ, it's great.
He was so good at the game that they had two babies
So he made 2 games, within a game, using nothing but the game itself. Who the hell comes up with this shit
So he made 2 games, within a game, using nothing but the game itself. Who the hell comes up with this shit
How does a game get to be that broken?
I assume the tool-assistance was pre-programming the button inputs required to do this?
So he made 2 games, within a game, using nothing but the game itself. Who the hell comes up with this shit
Their original plan was to code the entirety of Super Mario Bros into the game and then TAS that game The crazy thing is, if I understand correctly, the only thing stopping them from doing that was the timer in the level, which didn't offer enough time to code It just blows my mind that they can do this shit

Here's an explanation: http://tasvideos.org/3957S.html Seeing this at AGDQ was pretty cool.
I suppose you could use another tool to edit the time limit, but that might fuck with the game's "tool-assisted coding"
The idea is that this sort of thing can be done on a real console using the TAS bot, which is basically a Raspberry Pi that emulates the button inputs of various console controllers. They did it live on AGDQ last week: It's pretty insane.

Here's a different game run that utilizes arbitrary code. Go to 12:25 if you want immediate action.

Did they execute arbitrary code with the internet?

I would've been totally okay with them using a hack that removes/extends the timer if that would've been the end result. That would've been absolutely wild.
