He passed away today, sadly. He was the pioneer of rock and blues, he created gibson's first soild body guitar, the "les paul". He passed away from pneumonia and he was 94. Truly a sad day for musicians. More about him, you can check this out. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090813/ap_en_mu/us_obit_les_paul
It's ok if you're so sheltered you've never had someone die before just go back and play your xbox
My thoughts exactly.
Awe, Rashied Ali died, too. :(
94 years is a good, long life, and I'm sure he enjoyed it. Oh hey, an ad at the bottom of the page for his guitars.
He created the solid body guitar on my birthday D:
I don't know enough about his playing to comment on it. I will say "Thank you for creating the most sexy guitar ever".
That sucks. I have a Les Paul and it is the best guitar I have ever played. R.I.P.

He was truly a great man, and he will be remembered. At least he lived a long life.
Awesome guy. Now I go play my guitar loud and proud in honor of him.
He created the solid body guitar on my birthday D:
That is an honor.
Guys, he fucking INVENTED the electric guitar!! Not just the first solid-body, the fucking idea of the electric guitar!!!
No you are wrong on both counts.
Guys, he fucking INVENTED the electric guitar!! Not just the first solid-body, the fucking idea of the electric guitar!!!
Rickenbacker made the first solid body i believe
Rickenbacker made the first solid body i believe
Seems to me like most Ric's are hollowbody. I just know Leo Fender INVENTED the electric bass, that's a fact.
Just know he lived a good, very long life. Holy damn 94 that is older than Mikfoz.
Guys, he fucking INVENTED the electric guitar!! Not just the first solid-body, the fucking idea of the electric guitar!!!
False. "Electric guitars were originally designed by an assortment of luthiers, guitar makers, electronics enthusiasts, and instrument manufacturers. Guitar innovator Les Paul experimented with microphones attached to guitars"
It's amazing that he still played guitar into his 90s too.
