"Every one of them are dead." The Gilchrist County Sheriff's Office released the recording and another detail today: Spirit used a .45-caliber handgun. Spirit, who fatally shot his son during a 2001 hunting trip in Central Florida, couldn't legally possess a firearm because he was a felon. Federal, state and local officials are investigating how he obtained the weapon. A motive is still unknown, the Gilchrist County Sheriff's Office said. "As stated before, this tragic and devastating event may never be fully explained," a statement said. "We would continue to ask everyone to keep the victims family, friends, classmates, and the community of Bell, Florida in their thoughts and prayers." The same gun was used in all the killings. Deputies who responded to Spirit's 911 call made "verbal contact" with the grandfather. "After a brief verbal exchange, the suspect sustained a self inflicted gunshot which resulted in his death,'' the Sheriff's Office said. "As of this time, no clear or definitive motive can be determined." "All of the children's bodies were located in various locations inside the residence, while the bodies of the two adults were found outside the residence in separate locations on the property,'' the Sheriff's Office said. "The final autopsy report will not be complete for several weeks." The release of his 911 call comes a day after news outlets reported that the Florida Department of Children and Families was investigating drug abuse in the house. The agency previously received reports about domestic violence and child abuse. Last year, Spirit allegedly hit one of his grandchildren with a belt, resulting in bruising, DCF told news outlets. Spirit is believed to be the lone gunman responsible for slaying his 28-year-old daughter, Sarah Spirit, and her six children. The youngest victims were Kaleb Kuhlmann, 11; Kylie Kuhlmann, 9; Johnathon Kuhlmann, 8; Brandon Stewart, 4; Destiny Stewart, 5: and 2-month-old Alanna Stewart. Spirit spent three years in prison on a gun charge after he accidentally shot and killed his son Kyle on a 2001 hunting trip in Osceola County, according to the Florida Department of Corrections. The accident happened outside Kenansville on Nov. 14, 2001. Spirit was pointing out rust on the muzzle of his rifle when it fired, striking 8-year-old Kyle in the head. Spirit was a felon from a previous drug conviction at the time of the shooting.
http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/breaking-news/os-florida-shootings-mass-murder-bell-20140923-story.html Jesus christ.
It's a shame people this fucked in the head exist
We'll never know what made him do what he did; we might be able to form a conclusion with the available evidence, but it might be difficult to find the actual trigger which sent him over the edge.

Maybe he was just a fucking insane lunatic who does not think like normal people would
Maybe he was just a fucking insane lunatic who does not think like normal people would
that sure is progressive of you

I see adults having tantrums like children on a nearly daily basis. (I also work a customer service job, where I am screamed at by lunatics at least once a day) It really is a shame, but the high pressure capitalist society we live in, combined with rampant under education and religious delusions, I would say is a large contributing factor to incidents like this.
Maybe he was just a fucking insane lunatic who does not think like normal people would
There is truth to this, but you'll come to find that normality isn't normal. Everyone has some crazy fucking issues or is a liar or has something else terribly wrong with them.

Sorry, I'm a bit lost on what you're trying to argue.
The article said something about accidentally shooting his son in 2001. Sound like he never got proper mental help to resolve and look past that, and ended up coming to this point.
Also, if you guys read the article, he shot his own son in 2001 on a hunting trip. Maybe it had something to do with this
Spirit spent three years in prison on a gun charge after he accidentally shot and killed his son Kyle on a 2001 hunting trip in Osceola County, according to the Florida Department of Corrections.

With 330 million people in the country, you're bound to have a few crazies. Not saying we can't help them or this shouldn't be looked down upon for the tragedy it is, but assuming out of 330 million there aren't crazy people is unrealistic.

There is a very high concentration of lunatics and people entirely detached from reality in this country.
Plus, I hope they can clear up how he managed to get a gun, seeing as he wasn't allowed to have one. [editline]24th September 2014[/editline] Maybe it depends on which state you live in?
To an extent I would say this is true. As far as the gun goes, it's extremely easy to illegally obtain a firearm in the US. I personally own all of my firearms legally but I know of multiple sources where I could get a gun no questions asked and no paperwork filed.
The problem is that there are more than a few crazies. I'm inclined to think that it's done on purpose, as there's no way the people who run mainstream media outlets are unaware of the societal impact. (at the end of the day it's all about views and profit margins)
He might of been deprived of sex.

How do you even shoot a 2 month old
How do you even shoot a 2 month old
With a small gun
With a small gun
we need a dark funny rating on here
Being a respondent to calls like these fucking sucks ass big time Fuck these people
The guy was a drug felon before he killed his son 13 years ago. I think it's pretty obvious this guy had drug problems all this time. Therefore, it makes sense to me that he was probably psychotic from drug use at the time he did this last crime. If you've ever done meth you know that if you do enough of it a couple of days in a row it'll make you crazy.
Kinda odd knowing that happened 45 minutes from my hometown.
How was he not in prison for life for "accidentally" shooting an 8 year old. "Pointing out rust" yea bullfucking shit, like an 8 year old is going to care or know about rust.
I thought I was a cynical bastard, but holy shit.
I too thought I was a cynical bastard, until I started working in a customer service job. Only then did I realize how nice I had been up until then. Trust me, you see shit that will shake your faith in humanity to the core. Why, just last Thursday I witnessed a woman placing a plastic bag over (all the way over) her infant child's head to keep him/her dry in the rainy weather.
