Jericho is a TV show that aired on CBS during 2006 and 2008 with a total of two seasons. The show takes place in the fictional town of Jericho, Kansas. The show begins with one of the main characters, Jake Green returning home after a prolonged absence. He is very cryptic about where he's been, and despite a rocky start with his Father returns to town shortly after a mushroom cloud appears on the horizon from the direction of Denver, Colorado. Eventually through many challenges, with the aid of his friends and the towns people they manage to survive Post-Nuclear America. That was my synopsis, not a very good one at that, so here is Wikipedia's;
Jericho is an American serial drama that centers on the residents of the fictional town of Jericho, Kansas in the aftermath of nuclear attacks on 23 major cities in the contiguous United States. Produced by CBS Paramount Network Television, with executive producers Jon Turteltaub, Stephen Chbosky, and Carol Barbee, the show was broadcast in more than 30 countries. The show ran on CBS from September 20, 2006 through March 25, 2008. It was initially canceled after its first full season due to poor ratings. While a fan campaign was able to convince the network to bring the show back for a seven-episode second season, it was canceled for a second time after that run. On November 20, 2008, TV Guide reported that the CW television network is planning to air repeats of Jericho in order to replace cancelled series Valentine. The storyline centers on the residents of Jericho, a small, rural Kansas town, in the aftermath of nuclear attacks on 23 major cities in the United States. The series begins with a visible nuclear detonation of unknown origin in nearby Denver, Colorado, and a loss of power and modern communications, effectively isolating Jericho. Later, power is restored to Jericho by what is alluded to as the efforts of the U.S. government, but soon after, an electromagnetic pulse (EMP) disables all electronics. Several themes regularly addressed in the show included the gathering of information, community identity, public order, limited resources, the value of family, hardships of fatherhood and internal and external threats. The show also features several mysteries involving the backgrounds of major characters, the perpetrators of the attack, and the extent of damage to the United States and its government. The pivotal character in this story is Jake Green, the 32-year-old son of Mayor Johnston Green. Jake Green fled the town of Jericho five years earlier when he became mixed up with the wrong people and involved in questionable activity. Jake briefly returns home to claim his inheritance before becoming stranded as a result of the catastrophe. After a somewhat awkward return home and a tense reunion with his father, Jake steps up to become a leader in Jericho, fighting to protect the town and its citizens. As the people of Jericho struggle to survive in a changed world, most remain unaware that one of the newest residents, Robert Hawkins, knows a lot more about the attacks than he is letting on.
Jericho is my favorite TV show of all time, without a doubt. I own both Box Sets and I plan to get the Visual Novels, eventually.. Regardless, I remember watching this show every Wednesday. The characters were believable, story compelling, setting realistic and every episode was a new adventure that ended in another mystery you could not wait for the next episode to solve. When they canceled the show with a cliff hanger all the Jericho fans were outraged. I, along with the tons of other fans bought boxes of Peanuts and mailed them to CBS, picking up on a World-War 2 reference in one of the episodes. Eventually a second season was given the green light and the show was finally put to rest. I've watched the first season on YouTube. I thought it was pretty good, pretty fun to watch. Haven't really watched the second season, though. It's a shame they canceled it.
I remember this. Was pretty awesome.
Oh man, I miss this show. I wish it didn't have to end.
This was a good show, too bad it ended so soon.
I really mis this show. Ended way too soon.
An old teacher of mine that watched this suggested that I should also start watching it. I don't regret watching it.
I loved this show. I helped out and bought $100.00 USD of peanuts when they cancelled it, I liked the show so much. At least we got it concluded, although it felt so rushed.
too bad they cancelled the show, it was so good :(
I remember this as well. I liked it and its a damn shame it ended like it did.
Bad ass show a little hard to follow at times but still a good watch.
I only saw the first season (I don't think the second got aired in Australia...) and I enjoyed it lots.
Loved the first season of this show! It was a little weird. but still good. Too bad they canceled it. I wanted to know how and why they were bombed, and what happened afterwards!
So I made a Allied States of America from Season 2 costume for Comicon. Not going to bring the mask or counter though. Sorry for the bump, seemed relevant.
[sp] it was an inside job wasn't it? [/sp]
[sp] it was an inside job wasn't it? [/sp]
[sp]Yea, it was meant to be a failsafe thing created by the company that took over Jericho something like that[/sp] I have to rewatch it I haven't watched it in about 2-3 years.
Oh shit, totally forgot the show got a second season. Getting that shit on Netflix right now.
If you want both seasons on DVD http://www.amazon.com/Jericho-Complete-Skeet-Ulrich/dp/B001715A92/ref=sr_1_1?s=dvd&ie=UTF8&qid=1281759771&sr=1-1
One of my favorite shows. They're making a movie, if I remember right. A comic/graphic novel series is planned, too. We're going to get our ending either way.
I never finished season 2. I loved this series to death... Is this how Firefly fans felt when it was cancelled? [editline]12:30PM[/editline] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jericho_Season_3_%28comics%29 Wooo
I was just scouring through some of the older threads a few days ago and I found Jericho. It seemed interesting, and I started watching it. Well two days later at 3:40a.m in the morning having finished the entire series, I can honestly say this is quite possibly the best television show I've ever watched. Easily on the same tier of firefly, both being above-par quality shows canceled prematurely.
Does anyone remember Invasion? It was on right after season 1 of LOST.
