A young graduate student from Edmonton was found dead last week in a waste treatment facility in Bristol, England, one day after he arrived in the country to start university.
Police have not said how Garrett Elsey, 22, died or how he ended up in a dumpster. His body was discovered by workers at a recycling plant on the outskirts of Bristol last Thursday morning.
“There are a lot of outstanding questions,” his uncle, Brent Elsey, told the Edmonton Journal.
Elsey had just enrolled at the University of Bristol on Wednesday for a master’s degree in international security. He then went out Wednesday night with a friend he knew from playing rugby in Canada.
The friends parted ways at the end of the night and workers at New Earth Solutions waste treatment unit found his body Thursday morning, the Daily Mail reports.
According to the British newspaper, police tracked the bin he was found in to a four-storey apartment complex near a popular bar and club district.
Police identified his body using his passport and the fingerprints he provided when he entered the country.
Local police have asked for the public’s help.
“The investigation continues to piece together how the body came to be in the bin and we are keeping an open mind at this stage. A post-mortem is taking place today to establish the cause of the man’s death,” Avon and Somerset police said in a statement.
“Anyone who was in the Jacob Wells Road area in the early hours of Thursday morning and people with information they believe might help the investigation should contact police.”
Garrett Elsey recently graduated from Carleton University with a bachelor’s degree in political science and history.
Thats a messy way to go, sad.
Someone probably thought he was a yank.

Ironically unfortunate.
Ironically unfortunate.
not really
irony would be a degree in waste management or jujitsu or something
at least the murderer was being eco friendly
I guess you could say he... was murdered and dumped into a waste bin
freshers week can be mental
Probably someone attempted to rob him, but he fought back.
BUT the robber had the advantage somehow, and in the adrenaline rush killed him.
I guess you could say he... was murdered and dumped into a waste bin
no
at least whoever it was that did it is ecologically friendly

Van Man P.I.
van-man was the murderer
called it
Nah, it's just a common case in this type of scenarios.
Though usually it's just a blue eye and a mild concussion for the victim instead of death.
Robbing someone who's presumably drunk is common in shady areas close to slums or other problem areas.

Bodies go in the compost, not the recycling
ban recycling bins

The guys in the Hot Girls thread can identify women just by looking at their tits, I say we get them on the case.

I bet if he got skittles he'd still taste that optimistic rainbow.
I'm betting the killer will get the 3rd degree when they catch him this semester.
god damn, fuck this thread
see title, remember I had a friend who left for the UK about two weeks ago. read first sentence, remember said friend went to university in Edmonton and recently graduated. wasn't him, thankfully, still a shame though.
