Straying slightly from your regular "accepted" and "declined", some Eftpos machines have been delivering an odd message.
Payment terminals started showing the internet meme phrase "Herp-Derp Eftpos" after a developer's test update was accidentally distributed, reported ITnews.com.
"accidentally"
Should of been
"Hey dumbass swipe your card"
Harmless and funny enough, but I would think twice before paying on the terminal, and rather pay with cash if I had the chance.
There's way too many cases of credit cards getting scanned and hijacked for me to be comfortable with even something so trivial yet obviously suspicious.

Should have been "have"

Getting hijacked and skimmed etc only happens when you are the one who loses sight of your card getting swiped. Only let the waiter/attendant swipe your card for you, infront of you.
The only exception to this is PayWave (touchless credit card swiping), just dont use it, its not that secure. If they offer you a card with PayWave or similar, dont take it and ask for one without.

Wrong. The machine can be changed out for a hacked one that logs your info.

Happened in Vancouver, most of our terminals used to be connected via a telephone cord. After a rather large incident where scammers were distracting the person at the till and swapping the terminal for an 'enhanced' version, everyone switched to hardwired devices bolted to desks.
