Do you know what motion/shape tweening is and how to use it? You might find it useful as you won't have to redraw every frame.
i didnt redraw every frame cos i just copy pasted or used the onion thingy How do you use it. This was my first time and i just figured it out on my own. ill read up later [editline]12:11AM[/editline] its good for a first try though right?
its pretty much shit. Read some tutorials, have a bit more practice and then come back when you've spent some time getting better.
It's ok, I don't see how it's really worth posting though. Motion tweening is basically having one symbol (a part of the image) moving with the animation based on keyframes, so for example you set it to be at point A at frame 1 and at point B at frame 30, then apply motion tween to it you'll see it moving smoothly from A to B. Shape tween is same keyframed animation, but allows you to change shape properties, like the shape itself, color, etc. If I were you I'd just google some shape and motion tween tutorials.
its pretty much shit. Read some tutorials, have a bit more practice and then come back when you've spent some time getting better.
thats harsh i spent twenty minutes and 5 mmins on a tut for "My first flash animation" Common :(
If it IS your first... it is a HELL lot better than my first. BTW the title of this thread is awesome troll bait.
Why and how? Also i just did this with tweaking, i know its basic but
Motion tweening is not an effective way of animating at all, it should not be used with animating characters at all. It does have use with doing a lot of things, but not moving character limbs. That should be done in keyframes. Animation takes a while to learn and to get good at. It took me a long time to get a good walk cycle. What you should do is get a book about animation that describes actual frame by frame animation, and then also get a book that teaches you cheats in animation. By cheats I mean ways to make good looking shots without doing any complex animation, for example, having a walking scene but just showing above the waist so you don't have to animate the legs. Honestly, I wouldn't post your first animations or anything you do until you start getting an idea of what you are doing and you start making quality work.
I was proud :( Sorry gawd. It was just for fun Thanks for the buzz kill
Hey you should stay proud! Not everyone can be arsed to even open up flash instead of wasting their time on facebook all day. Just keep trying and remember that skill doesn't come instantly. It takes time, dedication and effort to achieve good results. How long do you think this took to make? I'll tell you, I started at 11PM and finished at 6AM, and that is a very simple scene and animation. So keep your mood up and try more. You'll get better and better and you'll see how your animations will become better and better too.
I was proud :( Sorry gawd. It was just for fun Thanks for the buzz kill
Pepin gave awesome tips you should defo take them. He wasn't calling you out, he was being more professional, meaning that he's not going to beat around the bush telling you how to improve.
No i know dog-gy it was just a first try. He could have said, Good effort but you should read up on XXX or XXX?
You WILL receive harsh criticism here and that's a GOOD thing. It'll let you improve much more than if people just patted you on the back saying "Good work". Learn to accept and appreciate it.
I know that i will and i dont want everything to be golden coated. It was just to figure out what everything does. Im going to do a guy walking, i'm watched a few Tuts and there is a bone tool which is amazingly help ful :)
what program are you using
what program are you using
Why post your first ever animation just so everyone can bitch and troll you. It is shit. "The end" lasted more than the rest of the animation. Animation was really not smooth. It doesn't make any sense in uncomical and very anwkard way. Just hide under a rock, and practise animation wuth using tutorials for some time. Newgrounds has shitload of mediocre to god tier tutorials.
Crucial tip: being lazy pays off. Some of the best things you can do are not to animate certain things. Leave it to the imagination. Remember Loony Tunes, whenever there was a crash off stage you could hear it but not see it. That's one saving the animator a ton of time and work. Two that is being a bit intuitive because then the viewer uses their imagination to fill in what is happening. Doing animation doesn't mean you have to animate complex smooth things at all, there is also a big opportunity to be creative, to create scenes in which there is very little or simple animation occurring but to make them more impressive than really cool complex scenes.
