Former President George H.W. Bush is bucking his party's presidential nominee and plans to vote for Hillary Clinton in November, according to a member of another famous political family, the Kennedys.
Bush, 92, had intended to stay silent on the White House race between Clinton and Donald Trump, a sign in and of itself of his distaste for the GOP nominee. But his preference for the wife of his own successor, President Bill Clinton, nonetheless became known to a wider audience thanks to Kathleen Hartington Kennedy Townsend, the former Maryland lieutenant governor and daughter of the late Robert F. Kennedy.
On Monday, Townsend posted a picture on her Facebook page shaking hands next to the former president and this caption: "The President told me he’s voting for Hillary!!”
In a telephone interview, Townsend said she met with the former president in Maine earlier today, where she said he made his preference known that he was voting for a Democrat. “That’s what he said,” she told POLITICO.
Thank goodness, prominent Republicans need to continue to take a stance against Trump to make sure that lunatic never sees his way into the White House.
George H.W. Bush would be preferable to Donald Trump.
george h.w. bush is voting for a democrat. there's no way this is not some social experiment by the illuminazi.

Are you thinking of Bush senior or Bush junior? This is talking about Bush senior.
I feel like I predicted this exact situation sarcastically when I was in high school.
i've lost all emotion and/or passion for anything that happens this year because it literally doesn't even feel real
Cool
Why does this matter?
How was Bush senior during his presidency, anyway?
Cool

A prominent Republican preferring Hillary over Trump is a pretty big deal and shows just how shitty Trump actually is.
How was Bush senior during his presidency, anyway?
he was loved for being the closest thing to reagan (he was reagan's vp) and the iron curtain and ussr falling helped too (even though he had nothing to do with those) but he lost to clinton while running for relection mainly because 1) he lied about not making any new taxes and 2) ross perot took a lot of his voters because of that iirc
dunno much about the gulf war
How was Bush senior during his presidency, anyway?
I twas a kiddie but from what I recall he was alright. For one, he didnt invade Iraq when he pushed Saddam out of Kuwait. There were people begging to finish him off. Bush Sr said no, because the mission was accomplished and it would be a major mistake to do more then that. He was right.
His reputation was maybe good enough to get his son elected. Where Bush jr had so bad of a rep that now even his brother cant get elected. You can make what you want from that.

He also passed the American's With Disabilities Act. And the infamous tax hike that probably doomed him was made as a compromise with the Democrats to get the budget down, which included the Democrats compromising as well and giving some room on program cuts, so he was capable of bipartisanship.
Certainly there's a number of other things that I as a liberal would disagree with him on, but, as far as Republicans go, he was a fine president.

It isn't. Notice you have people confirming their bias by welcoming bush sr. into their camp without a second thought, when in any other situation you'd have major skepticism and disgust for that old white dude who did shitty things. Ask yourself why a former president would abandon the party that gave him everything for the party that is supposedly completely different. You might find out something interesting like, perhaps the two parties aren't really that different at all (THE [one] establishment) and by supporting Clinton he actually confesses that fact. He would rather pull off the disguise and start bailing for the ship he's in than support trump (a whole different ball game). Because let's be honest, while trump has been a bit coarse and clumsy in what he's said throughout the campaign, he really hasn't said anything out of line with being a republican. If he's switching sides based on trumps immature behavior alone, that still raises more questions. You would support your candidate no matter what, even if they were ted Cruz.
Is it a "union against trump and we'll take anyone who will help your sins are cleansed let's vanquish the demon" or is it just that people become mentally disabled by the mere mention of his name?
I'd argue for the latter, though if it is truly the former then we have trump to thank for identifying, simplifying and isolating the ideas and parts of the country that really are diseased.
Either you're stupid and sip that good ol koolaid they give you on a daily basis or trump is actually the good guy.
Pretty interesting to say the least. I for one think it's delicious that we're finally seeing these crony loser politicians flop around like fish out of water. Of course they're all people in the end and should be treated as such, but in the mean time I say let them have a taste of their own bullshit.

I think you mean how shitty hillary is and how vapid her left position and ties to the people are.
Hillary polls 31% among millenials when Obama scored 60% in 2012. You can guess why
this is nothing new. colin powell voted for obama, and joe lieberman voted for john mccain. prominent figures swap all the time.

What does Hillary's popularity among millenials have to do with a former president from a major Republican family voting Democrat. Hillary being the establishment candidate isn't really anything new.

Did you forget your tinfoil hat today or something, mate?
It kinda just hit me the election is in a little more than a month. I feel uneasy.
to be expected, the bush's and clinton's are good friends, and after what trump did to jeb and the rest of the republican party it would be surprising if he DIDN'T vote clinton

i think it's more likely that bush sr sees trump as so insane that if he were elected he would pretty much destroy the republican party if he won
Did you forget your tinfoil hat today or something, mate?
I'd rather wear a tinfoil hat and dance around like a fool than go out of my way to hold onto what any of the Bush family represented to this country.

You really believe he didn't already defeat the GOP? Maybe not destroyed, but they are history. He was pretty funny about it too

Whats wrong with this?
Bush Sr, I recall when he was office I wasnt embarrassed to be an American. I wasnt afraid of going to foreign nations out of a fubar Bush Sr made via a horrible decision.

I expect sheniggans. Bush Jr got elected due to "Florida miscounts" twice in a row. It may be very likely you vote doesnt matter or count. It could be very likely all show.
I think this going be the first election cycle where there might end up being severe civil unrest despite whomever gets elected or what ever happens. Why? Due to how much shit this election has revealed concerning the process that is going to cause some severe anger one way or another.

It shows what 92 Year Old George HW Bush thinks of him. Unsurprisingly the Bush family is not a fan of Trump.
Here's a long list of other prominent Republicans who don't like Trump. Its old news for one, and more importantly its irrelevant to the outcome of the election.
Trump's breaking the GOP's shit historic platform and moving past it, and a lot of the Republican party and its voters have already moved beyond the anti-Trump movement.
Why does the way someone else votes affect your own vote? Who cares what their status is or was?

His only positive change were the AwD act.
The amount of people in poverty doubled under his tenure. 4 years. Doubled.
