A girl has died at a school in Kent which specialises in sport after she collapsed during a game of rounders. Nicky Payne, 15, collapsed at Angley School in Cranbrook at about 11:30 BST on Tuesday. She was taken to the William Harvey Hospital but staff were unable to revive her. Kent Police said her death was being treated as unexplained but there were not believed to be any suspicious circumstances. A force spokesman said: "Nicky's family are being supported by a family liaison officer from Kent Police and the coroner has been notified." Pupils at the school were told of her death at a special assembly held later in the day. Tammy Blunt, 14, told BBC South East Today that Nicky would be remembered as "a really good dancer and singer". Rhys Vausden, 15, said she was always "happy, lively, and cheerful". "Everyone was in shock. No-one could believe it," he said. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-kent-17831262
I'm starting to wonder if sports in the UK are more deadly than anywhere else... Then again, maybe nowhere else reports them. Hang on, the Wiliam Harvey's 20 mins away from me...
sounds like a freak accident more than anything specifically to do with rounders (I was thinking when I entered the thread that maybe she got hit somewhere critical with a ball or bat) but who knows
what the fuck is rounders
what the fuck is rounders
An even more boring version of baseball.
what the fuck is rounders
Low budget baseball.

I have never seen a picture before that so easily captures the sheer excitement of a sport with such accuracy.
I remember playing rounders a lot in school, often got hit in the head with the ball.
Seriously? Fucking Rounders of all things?
Rounders is a terrible sport but the bats make great truncheons.
I go to that School to play football every sunday, sad story.

Looks like so much fun!
I remember playing this in school and at least 80% of the time is spent standing and waiting in a queue
Bet the kid standing nearest to her when it happened is shitting himself.

Hahaha this picture makes it look really lame but at school it was either this or football (Soccer to Americans), this was a good laugh.
Ban sports before it kills all our kids.
Hahaha this picture makes it look really lame but at school it was either this or football (Soccer to Americans), this was a good laugh.
it wasn't for me, the teachers were always incredibly inconsistent about the rules, so you'd constantly be hesitant to move in case you broke a rule or gave the other team a point it was basically twenty kids awkwardly shuffling about a pitch, occasionally tripping up when they tried to catch a ball

I was good at Rounders, it combined all the elements of other PE classes, hitting things, moving very little and waiting around, into one fun little package!
It's like there is a supernatural monster who only kills children playing sports in the UK, any moment sam and dean will come and kill it
so basically it's baseball with downs? that picture makes it look like awful shit i don't know why you wouldn't just play like, whiffleball instead
Welcome to the UK. PE sucks, most people at my school skipped their lessons
Isn't it like, the third time?
I live in Kent, cant say I live near Cranbrook though. Also why is playing rounders relevant if it wans't the cause of death? Its hardly the most physically challenging of sports.
Rounders is basically the same as baseball but the bat is smaller and no one cares about it.
The only thing satisfying about rounders is when you're on the field and the opposing team are all queuing to have a shot then somebody takes a shot so bad they let go of the bat and the bat goes hurtling into the line of people on their team.
Snip
Why the hate on rounders? It's fairly fun as long as your group isn't too big, we play it at our school fairly often.

Is it as awkward as it looks to be the batter?
