• How much do you rely, or need music?

All of us listen to music obviously, but, what would happen if it all disappeared? How would you cope? The question here basically is, how much do you rely on music. Can you go a day without it, or is going for an hour without it like an hour in hell? For me, I need music. I can't go a day without it. If I don't get my daily listen, I get really irritable and angry to people around me. Hell, I was shouting at my brother when I couldn't find my headphones. Music calms me down, and whenever I get interrupted mid-song by someone around me, I get pretty pissed. If music was to disappear, for me, I'd go nuts really. What about you FP?
I could go a day without music. Heck I could go a week without it :smug: There are ways to musically occupy your mind without having to here it. You could always read a book or watch a movie. Music is definitely a big part of my life, but I have to prepare to live without it... otherwise I'll become too obsessed. I think it depends. Like, does 'disappeared' mean that all CD's and tracks disappeared, or literally any method of making music ever disappeared? Because I can make music on plastic drums and cooking pots.
I can go without if for a day or two, but it's definitely my main passion in life. Specifically, creating music that is. I'd rather go blind than deaf, put it that way.
I would hear songs in my head if I didn't have the actual music.
"Without music, life would be an error.” Friedrich Nietzsche
nietzsche is my favourite philosopher, him and sartre are pretty boss to me.
I would be able to live with it, to an extent. I usually listen to music just to keep my spirit up/let the time fly by.
I actually don't listen to music all that much. I'm a big fan of music, but it isn't at all something I need.
I could live without it, yeah. It wouldn't be great though, the main interests in my life revolve around music, without them my life would be a lot more boring and uninteresting, and I would be unhappy. I would move on, find new things to focus on in life but I would never be as happy.
A lot. I would have to start listening to the radio if I lost my music library and couldn't get it back, or would have music playing constantly whenever I was home if I lost my ipod/headphones
I wouldn't die without it, but I'd miss it terribly. I can go days/weeks without
when i don't listen to music for a day i start to sing and hum things so it's very important for me to listen to music because i have a horrible voice
if music disappeared, I would die on the inside. I would be sad all the time because I can't listen to The Beatles.
If my zune battery dies on my way home from school I prepare for a long walk home. Usually when I walk home from school (about 20-30 minute walk) I just space out and let my body walk me home while I enjoy my music. I also listen to it all the time in class and at lunch when I'm not talking with my friends.
I can make music in my head Actually, after listening to a song I like a few times I can pretty much memorize every lyric and detail of the song
Same as OP. I can't go hours without listening. Drives me crazy when I can't listen. Or when my headphones get yanked out in the hallways.
I can't stand driving for more than like five minutes without music, which is why I hate driving with my mom, because she says music distracts her.
I always listen to music. All day, everyday
it helps me go to sleep at night but other than that I'm ok with not listening for a while actually it'd probably be better if I spent a little less time listening to music and a little more practicing
If I'm on the computer, walking alone, driving, relaxing while the family is out, I have music playing constantly. I would go out of my mind without music stimulating me.
All my music is on my computer, so the more time I spend in my garage playing music the less I get to listen to it
I probably can't live without it as I listen to music every day. It's one of those things that just connects me to live and when I listen to music, it brings back memories.
Music used to be pretty important to me when I was younger, but it became less so. Now I find myself listening to music at work and frequenting Pandora and last.fm more. I'd say music has become more important to me now than it was one or two years ago. It doesn't kill me to not listen, but I've often got a song in my head.
I don't even listen to music. Why would I ? It's just noise that makes me less efficient.
Why would you even come into the music section, then?
I don't even listen to music. Why would I ? It's just noise that makes me less efficient.
Less efficient at what? I can understand certain music might distract you from detail-oriented work, but it's not a huge deal in the majority of situations. :frog:
When I don't listen to music for a while, I get songs stuck in my head, several at a time. The longer I wait, the more songs I get stuck in there, and it becomes more and more annoying.
Some music helps when I'm feeling sad. Reggae, for example. It helps quite a lot, actually. I guess you could say I "rely" on music, in this way.
It helps me focus a lot on my graphic/web projects and in gaming also. Helps sort through my thoughts as well, especially when on public transport.
