This is probably an issue for lots of facepunchers with exam time coming up. Year 13 student here: I'm having real trouble focusing and my next exam is on the 8th. Wuthering Heights and Frost poetry.
Anyone got any proven methods to help concentrate?
P.S. I need ABB to get into Bristol. Pretty tricky since I didn't do English last year so I'm doing both exams now.
Study like 30 minutes a day that worked for me
I am massively distracted. Now that the good weather has fucked off and I can't revise outside in the sun things are a million times harder.
It's quite annoying at first but I've found I revise better in silence, especially when the revision involves reading over something and not actually doing anything. Quiet, relaxing music may also be helpful, instrumental music with no words would be best.
Oh and don't overwork yourself, I find I can only concentrate for about an hour at a time and my results are still good with only an hour's revision a day.
Wank beforehand.
I'm very serious.
When i'm being distracted from revision, i just start reading the Wikipedia article on the topic. Somehow i always keep reading, i will also have 20 more tabs open in the background.
get someone to hide the plug to your computer
unless you need it
Same here.
I daydream 24/7 and can't concentrate for shit...
...guess I'm gonna go back to dreaming
Welcome to my world pal, try revising math, English, history, Irish, art history, geography and French. It's stupidly hard, but it's the last exam I ever have to do. The amount of lads that top themselves doing this exam is testament to our ridiculous education system. To get into an Irish University you have to have English and Irish and a Third language. I just keep pushing myself to study, and keep telling my self that if I don't study I will have a life of poverty, which is the truth to some degree.
So just keep working it will pay off.
Ask a mod to ban you for a month or something, that way you won't get distracted by Facepunch.
I was considering doing that when I was doing my GCSEs but then I just ended up not turning my computer on in the first place.
It's really not that difficult to study
unplug your ethernet cable, you'll be bored
Ritalin.
Learning is fucking dry, but you can turn it in to something that interests you.
You got any hobbies at all? When revising for my AS exams I was feeling a graphics design vibe so instead of 'revising' I spent all day making posters and info sheets about the things I was studying.
How about learning as a secondary activity ?
For example, I use to play video games and every time a certain thing happens or some boring dialogs are up, I'm revising a bit of that boring repetitive shit.
Works with TV as well.Every time an advertisement shows up, switch to silent and revise some stuff.
Or speak your stuff on a MP3 player and listen to it while sleeping or napping; helps to get the stuff into your subconscious mind.
Or make some big ass notes everywhere so you'll notice 'em every time you pass 'em.
Quit the internet, and try to study in 30 minute sessions.
Also jazz helps me study for some reason, get some louis armstrong.
And so you posted about it on FP...
Instead of concentrating like you should have.

Brb, Writing a song about math
In Soviet Russia exams concentrates on you.

Irony.
Edit : As usual you all rate me dumb.
The longest you can concentrate for is 40 minutes, do two 40 minute sessions a day.
It sure is hard and my parents are flipping out that I am not doing enough threatening to take my PC when I use it to revise? (good idea or what xD) I just go on bitesize look at topic if there is anything I am unsure of I research it further.
Do it when you are in the car. I find that helps, because I'm away from any distractions. I get my homework and everything done there. It's alot easier, and seriously, if you just sit in the car even when it's stopped, it helps.
Turn everything in your room off and just sit there, eventually you'll be motivated to work.
Revise using other things than a computer.
Seriously - I have a typewriter and I just sit there and type and type away at my revision notes. Put me on a computer, and I spend ages on Facebook and Facepu-Son of a bitch! I'm doing it right now.
I have a bunch of projects due tomorrow and I'm always distracted. I am freakin screwed.
I am a procrastinator, don't ask for tips from me. Turning off your cell phone helps though...

Umm...this works, well.
Turn of internet, or do homework on blank sheet of paper
