It examines the events leading to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy and alleged subsequent cover-up, through the eyes of former New Orleans district attorney Jim Garrison (played by Kevin Costner). Garrison filed charges against New Orleans businessman Clay Shaw (Tommy Lee Jones) for his alleged participation in a conspiracy to assassinate the President, for which Lee Harvey Oswald (Gary Oldman) was found responsible by two Government investigations: the Warren Commission, and the House Select Committee on Assassinations (which concluded that there was another assassin shooting with Oswald). The film was adapted by Stone and Zachary Sklar from the books On the Trail of the Assassins by Jim Garrison and Crossfire: The Plot That Killed Kennedy by Jim Marrs. Stone described his fictionalized film as a "counter-myth" to the "fictional myth" of the Warren Commission. The film became embroiled in controversy even before it was finished filming, after The Washington Post national security correspondent George Lardner showed up on the set. Based on the first draft of the screenplay, he wrote a scathing article attacking the film. Upon JFK's theatrical release, many major American newspapers ran editorials accusing Stone of taking liberties with historical facts, including the film's implication that President Lyndon B. Johnson was part of a coup d'etat to kill Kennedy. After a slow start at the box office, Stone's film gradually picked up momentum, earning over $205 million in worldwide gross. JFK went on to win two Academy Awards and was nominated for eight in total, including Best Picture.
Trailer I Don't really have time to create a quality OP, but the point is, if you haven't watched this movie, no matter what country you live in, you should watch this movie. It's very dramatic and long but it's an extremely convincing movie that everyone should watch just to see what the US government is really capable of. It is quite an old movie, you may have seen it before, but really this thread is for anyone who hasn't seen it. In short: This movie is one of the biggest mindfucks you'll watch.
spoiler tag that shit
Spoiler tag what.
Looks interesting. Is it still available in blockbuster or even online streaming (legally)?
Spoiler tag what.
I think that it was a joke.
Where JFK was [sp]assassinated by Lee Harvey Oswald.[/sp]
That's part of history, I'm sure everyone already knows that, even though the point of the movie is to disprove that [editline]15th November 2010[/editline]
I think that it was a joke.
I guess it was. [editline]15th November 2010[/editline] I'm not good at online sarcasm.
Oliver Stone is one of my favorite directors.
Oliver Stone is one of my favorite directors.
Looks like Reaver1991 disagrees that Oliver Stone is one of your favorite directors.
Where JFK was [sp]assassinated by Lee Harvey Oswald.[/sp]
WHY DID I CLiCK IT?
Looks like Reaver1991 disagrees that Oliver Stone is one of your favorite directors.
As do I. He's lying to us.
Where JFK was [sp]assassinated by Lee Harvey Oswald.[/sp]
Thanks alot, You just ruined the movie for me.
Made us watch this in GCSE History.
Shit another JFK movie with Kevin Costner, though Thirteen Days was a decent movie.
Thanks alot, You just ruined the movie for me.
Don't worry, I hear there's an alternate ending [sp]where aliens invade Earth just before they shoot at JFK[/sp]
I have this sitting right next to me, been meaning to watch it after Nixon and Thirteen Days.
jack ruby = king badass
Alex Mason did it...
The movie's actually pretty historically inaccurate, but like Roger Ebert said, "JFK is a brilliant reflection of our unease and paranoia, our restless dissatisfaction. On that level, it is completely factual. " Still very entertaining.
jfk isn't dead
[sp]JFK dies[/sp]

Wasn't really shocking. We all know what happened. Then again, this is coming from a guy who has seen "Salo 120 Days Of Sodom" and "August Underground Mordum".
Anyone who has actually studied Kennedy's assassination knows this film greatly warps the facts for the sake of tension. No one should watch this film expecting an honest portrait. That doesn't mean it's a bad film. Just don't claim you understand the real story after watching it. A lot of people make that mistake.
I'm thinking of watching his "Nixon" film as it might seem like an actual great movie by him. Anyone have any opinion on that one or do I just stick with Frost/Nixon?
Submitted for your approval: A young man searches the forum boards of Facepunch, stumbling across a thread discussing a movie. One which depicts the assasination of John F. Kennedy, former U.S. president. The young man decides he doesn't care, and returns to his friends to slay zombies as the afore-mentioned president in a recently released video game. Was a lesson learned? [sp]Probably not.[/sp]
I just watched the Seinfeld where they parodied this movie. Either way, great film. Kevin Costner is amazing in it.
Pretty good even though it's 99% fiction.
Bull shit, this movie says there are more then FIVE shots. I can understand, two, three or four. But FIVE or more, eugh.
I hated this movie, it kept going on and on and on.
According to Call of duty black ops, JFK died while fighting zombies.
