It seems I have hit 1,000,000 plays total on all System of a Down songs in my iTunes Library. I feel like reviewing something, so these guys are definitely the people I choose! If you have no clue what I am talking about, skip down the the "Question(s)!" section at the bottom. System of a Down System of a Down, their first album, is truly the way to kick-start a band into fame. System of a Down, or SOAD, is a metal/nu rock album. Containing songs like "Sugar" and "CUBErt", the music really gets you going. The guitar preformed by the great Daron Malakian are truly stunning. The intro to the album, "Suite-Pee", starts with the changing tone of his trademark iceman guitar. The tones and lyrics of "War!" get your ears active listening to the sounds of Serj Tankians magical voice. I will have to go with "Sugar" to be my favorite song on the album. The music video for "Sugar" is also very entertaining. This album definitely gets 4 / 5 stars! Toxicity The album that spun the band into fame, Toxicity! System's first album was mainly overlooked by the mainstream audience, but not toxicity. Toxicity debuted as #1 on the american and canadian charts. The album has sold over 12 million copies worldwide! The songs of this album are different, crazy, and thrilling. Daron's voice is powerful and blends in with Serj's voice. "Needles," the second song in the album, thrills with its chorus "pull the tapeworm out of your ass" and the less-hardcore sounds of "Toxicity" rushing out in 3 minutes and 59 seconds of stunning sounds. This album spun system into fame, and earned them a multi-platinum certification! My favorite song is, without a doubt, Toxicity. The lyrics roll off the tongue, and fit in with the sounds of Daron's guitar. This album scores a perfect 5/5 stars on my list! Steal this Album Steal this Album is a different album. The music in Steal was recorded the same time as toxicity, but was not released in Toxicity. Steal this Album had unreleased, and unfinished music leaked onto the internet while System was touring in 2001. The music on this album is different as well. System started releasing some music with political meaning. "Boom!" is a song about the Iraq War, saying to stop dropping bombs over Iraq. The lower, softer tones of "Mr. Jack" describe a drug dealer being arrested in the morning. The rhythmic tunes and sounds of "Ego Brain" fill your ears with joy, and delight. Overall, this album is not my favorite album, but gets 3.5 / 5 stars. My favorite song on this album is "Ego Brain." I cannot describe my love and passion for this song. Mezmerize Mezmerize was the 1st of Systems double album. Mezmerize introduced many new songs, such as "Question!" and "Sad Statue". This album debuted with a #1 in America, Canada, and even Australia! The sounds of acoustic guitar through "Question!" fills the ears with the sounds of System! "Sad Statue" starts with the roar of Darons guitar, and then the river of lyrics from Serj and Daron, fill your mind and body with the music, the band, and the legend that is System! My personal choice of song on Mezmerize is "Question!" Question is a very different song, but I like it. A lot. The album would defiantly get 4.5/5 stars in my book. Hypnotize Systems last album before their hiatus in 2006, Hypnotize brings songs like "Dreaming", "Kill Rock 'n' Roll", and "Tentative". This album also debuted as #1 in 2005, brining System to be placed with legends of music, having 2 #1 albums in one year. "So I felt like the biggest asshole..." starts off "Kill Rock 'n' Roll," witch spins off into many different aspects of music. John Dolmayan, the drummer of System, rocks the music with his amazing drumming skills. "Holy Mountains" showcase Shavo Odadjian, the bassist of System, and his massive skills on base. "Tentative" then starts with the fierce roar of Daron's guitar. "Tentative" wins my favorite song on this album. With the amazing lyrics, drumming, and guitar, this song wins me over as the best song of Hypnotize. This album also earns a 4.5 / 5 stars for me. And thats it! My review of system of a down. This took me about 1 hour to complete! Thanks for reading, rate me informative? QUESTION(s)! q. Who the fuck is system of a down? a. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/System_of_a_Down , http://systemofadown.com/ q. Wait why are you wasting your time reviewing people who havent made music for 4 years? a. Because they are amazing, and I feel like criticizing "Steal this Album" q. What is your favorite song by them? a. Hmm... This is a hard question. I dont think I have a favorite song overall! Check the review for each album and look at my choice as best song of said album. OH WAIT THERE IS MORE. Hi. I wanted to say a few words about HOW FUCKING AWESOME this band is. System have made my life how it is today. Their music got me when i was around 12/13. The first song I ever heard from them was "DDevil". I was instantly hooked. I learned everything about system after that. Every song. Every performance. Every member. Every origin. Every album. Today, knowing I have listened to them 1,000,000+ times makes me very, very happy. I do hope this band comes back together to rock the world, again.
Great. Band.
I absolutely fucking love this band.
A great band. They really need to reuite and make some more good music.
great band the drums in toxicity are some of the finest drums i have heard in recent years. also dont forget shavo
Oh shit I forgot shavo. He has the coolest beard ever. :smug: Ill update toxicity.
You are fucking crazy if you think either Hypnotize or Mezmerize is better than Steal This Album. [editline]04:11PM[/editline] Their music used to be very purposeful, spiritual, genius and powerful before those two albums.
You are fucking crazy if you think either Hypnotize or Mezmerize is better than Steal This Album. [editline]04:11PM[/editline] Their music used to be very purposeful, spiritual, genius and powerful before those two albums.
Well, I do think they are better than steal. Steal was honestly not my favorite album. I enjoy hypnotize very much. I understand that their music did have more meaning before those two. Sure the meaning was lost, but some stuff like "Holy Mountains" and "B.Y.O.B." really has some nice meaning to it. Anyhoo, Toxicity is my favorite album of all time.
Holy Mountains feels very hollow to me, like they're singing about the same thing, but all the spirit is gone. Also like a rebranded Aerials. B.Y.O.B. was catchy and a well-written song, but once again it seems like the meaning has gone. "Thetawaves" on Steal is probably their best song, and I think their self-titled is their best album.
Serj has the sexiest voice ever, he also has some sick vocal range.

And I agree. Thetawaves is great. Restating myself, I love ego brain. The self titled album is amazing too. Honestly their early work, even the demo tapes, are very addicting. My favorite songs, other than sugar, would be "War!" and "P.L.U.C.K."

Naaah. I don't know why I don't really enjoy Serj's stuff that much. It should definitely be heard once, but I can't listen to most of the songs over and over like I could with System's.
Fellow System heads, As many of you know, I’ve been doing all the visual arts for System Of A Down tours, videos, etc, since way back in the day on our first record. I wanna turn you all on to an art piece I’ve been working on that has become very dear to my heart. I hope it strikes you deeply, the same. Remember-- Think freely and stay dangerous. See you all next year... Peace, Shavo
– Shavo Odadjian, A Message From Shavo, April 20, 2010 Enough with the teasing already! :byodood:

On a side note, my friend lives next-door to serj. Iv'e seen him once. Hes tall as fuck.
why do i think that that is a load of bollocks
I can go over to my friends house some time and get a picture, if you want.
I can go over to my friends house some time and get a picture, if you want.
Do it.
It seems a bit weird that you're such a big fan of System, but you didn't mention Serj living next door to your friend. If I had the opportunity, I would definitely try and talk to Serj. It's weird how you haven't done that.
He's bull shitting. From the interview I've seen with Serj interviewing himself for his solo album. It looks like he lives in the middle of the woods so no crazy people like you can annoy him. I also doubt that you have made 1,000,000 plays on System of a Down. Also Steal this Album was an amazing album.

I live in LA, so it'll be a long drive. Ill see if I can find it on google maps... The story goes something like this: Me and this kid have been friends for a very long time. A bit too long. We are friends on facebook, and one day I fanned serj. He commented this: { Sorry, After finding my like of serj tankian, I noticed that the comments on likes, etc were deleted. Damn facebook! } I promise you, Facepunch, I will get pictures. I might go down to my friends house for the 4th of july. Then I'll get some pics. Maybe even meet serj if im super lucky!
I love this band. My favorite song is "I-E-A-I-A-I-O". Love the chorus.
I love this band. My favorite song is "I-E-A-I-A-I-O". Love the chorus.
Why did we line up the sky?
Hes tall as fuck.
This is true. Saw him live (and Fantômas opened for him :D) and he was great. And tall. System and Serj are awesome.
This is true. Saw him live (and Fantômas opened for him :D) and he was great. And tall. System and Serj are awesome.
Yeah. hes like 6 foot 2. I think shavo is taller. 6 3? Anyhoo, I am around 60% sure this is his house. No street view, so I can't be sure.
Why did we line up the sky?
We never lined up the sky, we lit it.
he has a point
We never lined up the sky, we lit it.
I always heard it as "line" :saddowns:
Good band, but i don't think they'll ever reunite. Didn't Daron have mid-life crisis or mental breakdown?
dont like them anymore, but I don't know about you, but the 'steal this album' thing actually made me buy want to buy it (i did)
