Something even I couldn't get my hands on until just last summer. The decks are so hard to find cheap that I ended up buying a broken one in Japan. :v: The fact that Techmoan paid around $400CDN for a deck is fucked.
Oh my god what if Dat Boi came from that DAT advertisement. Plot Twist: [sp] Techmoan started the meme by posting "Here comes DAT" Then under it he put a solitary "boi" and then "Oh shit whaddup" because he was legetimately excited to get a DAT. [/sp]

I love this thing, and for a short time, I had all my pc audio going through it. It'd be SPDIF out of the PC into the Tascam DAT box and then my speakers were plugged into it. The audio would just go straight through in monitor mode. I made a video of it a while back: [sp]Apparently, this DAT recorder was used to record the audio for some low quality mid-90's B-movie horror flick. There was a flier for the movie in the box when I got it, none of the original tapes though :([/sp]
