looks like bastion and the other game that the same company is making right now
Looks like fez Why are you rating me dumb, it really has a similar aesthetic to fez
I still think this game would have benefited from a more intense and faster paced soundtrack, getting the guy who made Fez's ambient tracks just doesn't seem to fit an action game where you hack up robots and shit with an energy sword and dash around. Combat still looks iffy to me but damn I love those smooth animations, and the game's overall presentation is still pretty badass
If you take away the graphics the gameplay is forgettable.
The music sounds like a deadmau5 version of the Thomas was Alone soundtrack.
If you take away the graphics the gameplay is forgettable.
I have no idea how you're rating the gameplay of a game that's not even finished yet.
Art style is like Risk of Rain, same guys, probs.
Art style is like Risk of Rain, same guys, probs.
as far as I know, the guys who made Risk of Rain took no part in this.

They kinda look like evas. [thumb]http://puu.sh/7OpYK.jpg[/thumb]
This game actually looks really cool
I'm really looking forward to this game. Definitely curious to see more of general gameplay and combat.
The art reminds me of Superbrothers. Not that that's a bad thing, I think Superbrothers is what games done in this style should aspire to be.
Reminds me of a HD remake of Another World

how can a game called "hyper light drifter" not be about driving tron cars at extreme speeds? The name makes you so excited only to be greeted with... that.
how can a game called "hyper light drifter" not be about driving tron cars at extreme speeds? The name makes you so excited only to be greeted with... that.
Well the character is called a Drifter, because he...well...walks around from place to place I guess.

It sorta looks like you play as the final boss in Risk of Rain
-fuck it-
is this by any chance made by the same guys who made Risk of Rain? alot of similarities in style and designs
Ok guys, I know it's a game that uses sprites, but jesus christ.
What the frick, it legit looks like it has RoR's artstyle. And unless literally every indie game looks like that, prove me wrong. :/ Hell, even some of the monsters and humanoids look similar.
how can a game called "hyper light drifter" not be about driving tron cars at extreme speeds? looks ok
I for one like it, and i really dig the art style. To me it looks like a lot of effort went into the simple details. Might be the first "indie retro game" game that i get.
I'm not particularily a fan of retro 8-bit pixel art, but what the guy did with it is pretty impressive. It certainly looks orders of magnitudes better than all the generic indie games.
Damn that looks fucking great for the style of art he chose, lots of work in those sprites. Only downside is it looks clunky as all shit still, or is the game still in development? if so that's totally cool, the art is looking great so far
Here, have a kick-ass gif while we're all looking at the trailer. Also, I can't believe after all of these people listed possible visual inspirations, nobody else thought of Journey? Journey is what I was thinking of when I first backed it.
