Greg Lake, who fronted both King Crimson and Emerson, Lake and Palmer, has died aged 69.
He died on Tuesday after "a long and stubborn battle with cancer", said his manager.
The news comes nine months after Lake's band-mate Keith Emerson died.
oh fuck no.
King Crimson and Emmerson Lake and Palmer were two of the best bands of the last century. RIP.
First Keith Emerson, and now Greg Lake. This sucks
I really hope we don't lose Carl before the year is out. I'm absolutely gutted we've lost Keith to suicide and now Greg to cancer. Sucks major balls. I've loved ELP since I was a kid as my dad used to play their stuff all the time in the car. Glad we got to see them for their 40th anniversary concert at High Voltage in 2010. Rest in peace Greg Lake, hope Benny the Bouncer is fair to you at Saint Peter's Gate.

Dies on the same day as John Lennon and Jim Morrison. Spooky.

For music it is actually a super terrible year since we've lost the likes of Bowie and Prince.
Cancer can get fucked.

What a lucky man he was.
Man I saw these guys like three months earlier, damn. My friend was right that it was my one and only opportunity to see them play live.
urghhh these past few years have been so crap for prog

If this year ends with the second coming I will eat a satanic bible.
I know the day is coming, but I can't imagine a world without Fripp.
Fuck me I just introduced someone to King Crimson yesterday too and they were amazed at this dude

You can't kill the reptile man. The reptile man is immortal.
obligatory music loss thread reminder that this year was kicked off by lemmy's death
the timing of this is awful, too, since I just re-listened through King Crimson's discography

Even though Greg Lake had nothing to do with this song, it still is their best. Fucking love it as well.
This sucks. Fripp is getting old too...

When Fripp dies King Crimson dies. I hope they release at least one more studio album (they have a few new tracks played live so it's possible)
Greg lake only did king crimsons first album then moved onto elp
Just so happens though that their first album was their best one
fucking goddamn. ITCOTCK is my favorite album of all-time, due in no small part to his voice and his bass work.

my favorite king crimson track, and lake's vocals on it are his best of all-time imo. that last "CRYYYYYYIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNG" hits
i fucking love the bass in this song, though it's not that interesting until about 1:40 when it just takes off. also, not to mention awesome shit like tarkus and karn evil 9 that he did in ELP

nah he was on their second album too, though only on vocals, and technically he was not in the band, just a "session musician"
another favorite from his time in the band. thanks fripp for starting to upload KC music to youtube

That was John Wetton, but a great album anyway.
I was just talking to someone about Greg Lake and King Crimson a few days ago, sad to see him go
I grew up with Dad playing their music.
Particular favourite is "In The Court Of The Crimson King".
