Valve isn't the only developer makes moves to expand this week, as French publisher Ubisoft has acquired Nadeo, the also French developers responsible for the wildly popular TrackMania racing game series.
That's a good get, as not only does Ubisoft fill a hole in its line-up—the publisher is weak in the racing genre—it also helps the company expand "within the on-line gaming sector," according to CEO Yves Guillemot. TrackMania has some 700,000 unique players per month, according to Ubisoft, with 10 million registered players and nearly 15 million user created tracks.
"We are excited about the idea of introducing TrackMania to an ever-wider audience and sharing the expertise of Nadeo's teams with our Group's other developers," Guillemot said in a statement.
Nadeo is equally excited to have been swallowed by Ubi.
"Nadeo's team was keen for this acquisition to happen," said Florent Castelnérac, CEO of Nadeo. "Like players in a community, we see ourselves as being a complementary fit with Ubisoft and believe that we can share and quickly move ahead together."
But, hey, don't let this warmhearted mutual admiration for both corporate entities stop you from coming up with new TrackMania titles, such as Imagine: Track Driver, Petz Carz or My Ramp Jumping Coach. It feels to good to deny oneself the pleasure.
Maybe Questmania and Shootmania might finally come out.
Cool
Maybe now they can make a game that is actually worth $30
Now the originality of the first game is fucked for sure.
Fact: Nadeo has always consisted of only 10 developers.
Trackmania will now have explosions and Sam Fisher as a cameo.
Ubisoft != Michael Bay.
And Ubisoft's Naruto games are actually pretty good.

Did I miss something?
Good now Ubisoft should make Prince of Persia: Brothers in Arms Trackmania's creed far cry Advanced Warfighter's splinter cell
Hopefully this means that the next trackmania won't have suckforce DRM
Ugh but I hate Ubisoft, all they do is make casual games these days and shovelware.
Trackmania Ultra: The revolutionary squad based racing game

It is quite a sad day, seeing as a lot of Ubisoft games are dumbed down and rushed.

Starforce DRM is removed when you buy it through Steam.
Starforce DRM is removed when you buy it through Steam.
But I don't feel like buying the game again.

i.e. far cry 2
as long as it doesn't affect production of Trackmania 2

They haven't always been that way though.
I miss the old Ubisoft. They have a special place in my heart.

You'll be missed.

You can't necessarily dumb down a TrackMania game. TrackMania is just basic Arcade Style racing. They just pull it off so well, you don't seem to realize it. TrackMania is amazing though, and maybe now, TrackMania will be able to be advertised more, allowing more sales :v:
Fucking hell, now the game is going to be plagued with weird bumpmapping, and weird animations like Chaos Theory.

But at least it will have collision detection.
Hmm I wonder how this will turn out, I really can't tell.
:suicide:

Imo Ubisoft have always been one of those shit developers like activision, EA and THQ
But at least it will have collision detection.
Oh you must be dumb, the game couldn't possibly work with collision detection.
"the publisher is weak in the racing genre"
Wait what? I played Far Cry 2, that was an excellent racing game.

Well, nobody fights anymore online in Far Cry 2, everyone just races.
That and the cars have realistic damage.
Ubisoft is a shitty developer, they only make boring casual games which no one cares about, they ruined blue bytes settlers...

You're stupid, Ubisoft have nothing to do with Blue Byte apart from being their publisher.
Ubisoft publish IL-2. I see no problem.
