[release] The man accused of kidnapping and murdering a University of North Carolina student president was found guilty today and sentenced to life in prison without parole.Laurence Lovette, now 21, was spared the death penalty as he was a minor when he murdered Eve Carson in 2008, who asked him and accomplice Demario Atwater to pray with her before they killed her.The Orange County jury found Lovette guilty of first-degree murder, first-degree kidnapping and robbery. He showed no emotion as the verdict was read. This act has no place in our society. It is not activity that we can allow to occur in our society. 'The life that Ms Carson led was too short, but I know that she continues to be an inspiration, not only for her family, but for thousands across this country.'According to prosecutors, Lovette and Atwater kidnapped Eve Carson, from Athens, Georgia, at gunpoint and drove in her Toyota Highlander to a nearby automated teller machine. Prosecutors say they drove to Durham to attempt a withdrawal from another ATM before returning to a secluded neighborhood near the UNC campus. Carson was forced from the car and shot four times with a .25 caliber pistol, according to her autopsy report. Her body was left in the street. Last year, Atwater pleaded guilty in the case and was sentenced to life in prison. It was revealed during the trial that the 20-year-old pleaded for her life before she was shot and even asked the two thugs to pray with her. Jayson McNeil, of Durham, an acquaintance of the two men, said he was called by Lovette after his accomplice was arrested. McNeil said in court that from the beginning of the ordeal, she begged her attackers not to kill her.He said: 'Before she even got shot, she was saying let's pray together.'But despite her pleas, Miss Carson was shot four times with a .25 calibre pistol. Then came a blast from a sawed-off 12-gauge shotgun to her right temple, leaving a large gaping wound to her head and the hand she used to try and shield herself. After the murder, the pair allegedly continued to return to ATMs, withdrawing the $700 from her account each time.Miss Carson, 22, from Athens, Georgia, was the university's popular student body president and a recipient of the highly regarded Morehead scholarship. Morehead scholarship..
Gene pool trash too.
because genes determine criminality and not structural circumstance I can tell he was a criminal by the slope of his forehead your Honour
How you can kill an innocent begging, pleading human being for money is beyond me.
She was beautiful too. Death sentence should apply here. REGARDLESS IF SHE WAS GORGEOUS DEATH SENTENCE SHOULD APPLY. He killed someone in cold blood, that's all that matters. Jesus you're a bunch of nitpickers.
Not again.
She was beautiful too. Death sentence should apply here.
"I think the person he killed was fuckable so he deserves to die" I guess if she was ugly she had it coming right so no need for the death sentence?

"Looks like I don goof'd" Don't worry, he'll be paying once in prison.
Why the FUCK would anyone even do this?!
All sorts of reasons. In this case, it sounds simply like he did it because he could do it. He's a waste of space and a pitiful excuse for a human being.
because genes determine criminality and not structural circumstance I can tell he was a criminal by the slope of his forehead your Honour
It's less about genes and more about the conditions because most of the kids born from thug parents turn into thugs themselves while people who could actually rise a child get killed by such thugs.
"I think the person he killed was fuckable so he deserves to die" I guess if she was ugly she had it coming right so no need for the death sentence?
Actually I just read "she was beautifu too" I don't understand why you are implying all this other shit he never said.
Actually I just read "she was beautifu too" I don't understand why you are implying all this other shit he never said.
I think his point is that people would care much less if the person murdered wasn't a pretty white woman
Actually I just read "she was beautifu too" I don't understand why you are implying all this other shit he never said.
It was a purposeful exaggeration attacking the idea that because shes beautiful that somehow makes her life more of a loss than it would be if she was ugly. I mean this is of course completely glossing over the retarded idea that this case should be an exception in allowing the death penalty
because genes determine criminality and not structural circumstance I can tell he was a criminal by the slope of his forehead your Honour
Why you gotta be the devils avocado in every thread man :(

Things like this just make me so sad, I just feel so helpless. There is this great ache in my heart but I CAN'T FUCKING DO ANYTHING HNNNNNGGGG
"I think the person he killed was fuckable so he deserves to die" I guess if she was ugly she had it coming right so no need for the death sentence?
He killed someone, death sentence applies. Her being attractive has nothing to do with my statement. Sorry I worded it incorrectly for you. [editline]23rd December 2011[/editline]
Actually I just read "she was beautifu too" I don't understand why you are implying all this other shit he never said.
He just wanted to feel cool and get some zings. A life for $700, the only thing more despicable is to demand more death from this.
Such a waste.
It's less about genes and more about the conditions because most of the kids born from thug parents turn into thugs themselves while people who could actually rise a child get killed by such thugs.
...that's behaviour that is learned, and is structural in nature (like Contag said). So why the hell did you say it was related to his genes, when what you meant was completely opposite?
Why you gotta be the devils avocado in every thread man :(
He's not. He's pointing out that it's ridiculous to say that these kinds of things are related to genes. I don't know what AceOfDevine was getting at with his post (because what he clarified with wasn't actually related to any possible genetic influence), but it's fairly well scientifically established that no races are inherently more violent than any others. It's also generally considered in criminology (which Contag has studied) that biological positivist theories for criminality are generally bullshit - which is what Contag was getting at. We used to believe in phrenology, for example, which is the pseudoscientific belief that one could determine criminality by the measurements of one's forehead. That's only one of the many absurd theories that we used to use when we believed that criminality was related to some sort of genetic or biological makeup. Even though he likes to shitpost often, he wasn't being a devil's advocate (or avocado) in this thread. He sincerely believes what he said. [editline]24th December 2011[/editline] Also, not to suggest that biological arguments for criminality don't still exist - they do. But we've moved on from a reliance on them to much more of a view of structural causes of criminality.
It's less about genes and more about the conditions because most of the kids born from thug parents turn into thugs themselves while people who could actually rise a child get killed by such thugs.
So when you said 'Gene pool trash too' you meant 'Socioeconomic pool trash too' [editline]24th December 2011[/editline]
Why you gotta be the devils avocado in every thread man :(
I discovered at a young age I was very bad at thinking but very good at criticizing.
