The former Top Gear star had been cleared by the corporation to appear later this month, which would have been his first BBC appearance since he was sacked over an attack on a producer. Jimmy Mulville, managing director of Hat Trick Productions which makes the show, said: "On reflection, Jeremy Clarkson has decided not to host Have I Got News For You. We fully expect him to resume his hosting duties later in the year." The show was due to be recorded on April 23 and broadcast the following evening. Clarkson was suspended from Top Gear on March 10 when the BBC launched an internal investigation into an altercation with his colleague on the show Oisin Tymon.[/quote]
Aw. It'd have been funny to watch Hislop and Merton tear into him like they do with other guests that done fucked up. The former host Angus Deayton getting grilled for his own screwups was a brilliant moment.
I don't really blame him. I think you need to be in the right mood to have a few hours of televised piss-taking at your expense.
HIGNFY is 50% grilling people in the news and 50% winding up the people in the panel/ the host, given what Jeremy went and did in the "fracas" I also don't see why he thought this was ever a good idea
Last time Jeremy hosted HIGNFY he threw a pen at Ian Hislop and they had to stop recording because Ian was bleeding.
