Dunfermline Semiconductor Plant - the multi-billion pound facility which was never used

I have wanted to see this place for years, but being in Scotland it was too far and too expensive to get to. Anyway, I went a few days ago, but unfortunately demolition of the semiconductor manufacturing part of the building is almost complete. This place was built in 1999, but has never seen the manufacture of a single semiconductor. It was recently sold and is to be demolished to make way for residential properties. I'm hitting myself over not going there sooner - everything worth seeing has gone.
Here's what I did see.
The part of the building which once contained all the machinery and clean rooms for the manufacturing process

theyre bashing it down with a big lorry with a spikey thing on the front of it :CCCC
I'm a bit surprised that not one single person has yet asked why it has never been used, and why it's being torn down.

From what I've read Hyundai was building it but the market wasn't so good around the time it was built(Y2K) I'm assuming and they backed out. Motorola then bought the factory.
did you steal anything? I'd have walked out with a half a ton of metal

Any real Urbex wouldn't do that.
Any real Urbex wouldn't do that.
it's not like it's going to be used.
Shit son, I see that like ever other day. Always wondered what it looked like inside. I thought they were changing it to a manufacturing place for offshore stuff?
Would make an awesome nightclub/ events place.
Damn, everything looks almost brand new, like it was just built.
What a shame.

Yeah all the stuff there was pretty clean and shiny apart from an untouched layer of dust on everything
They should have turned it into a paintball arena.
