Activision's buyback of $8.2 billion of its own shares from Vivendi has been completed, the publisher announced today. It was just yesterday that the Delaware Supreme Court overturned a September ruling that halted the purchase, which followed a lawsuit by an Activision Blizzard shareholder in August. The shareholder alleged a "breach of fiduciary duties, waste of corporate assets and unjust enrichment" on Activision's behalf.
i guess we'll have even more CoD. :suicide: , also activision is an "indie" i guess?
Well, let's see where it goes from here.
I hope Activision doesn't publish/make shitty games. They have a history of doing that.
I was a bit concerned about Blizzard's future but I'm happy the buyback went through.

They make great games. You just don't like them.

CoD dudebro version 10.000 isn't really a great game, and i love shooters.

Everyone take cover, it's the forced opinion police!
Activision will still be headed by Kotick and his bunch of investor obsessed managers who have no interest in video games so I don't get why people think things will change.
i honestly don't know what activision makes apart from call of duty and lots of bad licensed games
there's like prototype and what else?

Skylanders Giants, Deadpool, Fast and the Furious Showdown and TMNT Out of Shadows are all on their website's front page. No comment.
Edit:
Somebody zinged this, I was agreeing with the guy!

I'm sure the Vivendi stockholders were much more interested in making video games given how many studios they have fucked over in the past.

The CoD games are not really bad games either, they're not great but atleast they do what they do good and some, sorry, a lot of people enjoy them.

Can you give me an example of any fast paced multiplayer shooter doing what CoD does as good or better? There is really no competition because every game made to compete with Call of Duty is either terrible or at best worse.
[editline]12th October 2013[/editline]
I'd die to find a game to replace Call of Duty because Call of Duty isn't perfect, but it's the best there is.
If Activision is now an indie does that mean I'll have to vote for CoD on Greenlight now?
[sp]Yes I know they publish and Treyarch/IW dev I was just joking[/sp]

Counterstrike (Any version), Battlefield (Version), etc...
Counterstrike (Any version), Battlefield (Version), etc...
Comparing Counter Strike to Call of Duty is silly though, Counter Strike resides in that old realm of arena shooters while trying to get some arcade shooter stuff in there, while CoD is purely an arcade shooter.
but yeah thank god activision is out of Vivendi, VU is a mess and needs to die
Counterstrike (Any version), Battlefield (Version), etc...
Counter-Strike hasn't changed for 13 years, it's not a bad game and not necessarily worse than Call of Duty but it doesn't compete with Call of Duty. Battlefield only began competing with Call of Duty since Bad Company 2 and even then I don't feel like like they fall into the same tactical shooter category, if I want to have a 10v10 player infantry match on a small map I wouldn't exactly pick Battlefield.

Sadly a lot of publishers act like this, atleast the "Fire devteam, shelf license" aspect.
Another publisher freed from the shackles of Imperialism
Maybe we'll see a return to what they were back in the neversoft days?
CoD dudebro version 10.000 isn't really a great game, and i love shooters.
PSSSSSST
They release other games too!
they're responsible for alot of the movie games tho, but besides that they've made lots of great gems throughout the years that are never seen again because people didn't support it.
[t]http://i.imgur.com/tpI7Io5.png[/t]
you act like this is unique to activision, it's like this for pretty much every publisher out there. They can't throw their big budgets towards new IP because they are much more likely to fail.
wow i hope this means that the next cod wil be even better than the last one!!
holy fuck, i hate cod, stop making cods ffs. It's the same recycled piece of shit since cod mw2.

Unfortunately people buy it, so they're going to keep making it till gamers stop buying it.
Counterstrike (Any version), Battlefield (Version), etc...
Comparing Counter Strike and Battlefield to CoD is stupid, neither play alike.
Counter-Strike hasn't changed for 13 years, it's not a bad game and not necessarily worse than Call of Duty but it doesn't compete with Call of Duty. Okay big difference, there have been only about 4 counter strike games in the last 13 years, while there have been 6, coming up to 7 CoD games in the last 6/7 years and in this time they have barely changed the gameplay or even the graphics at all.
There is no comparison here.

No, they aren't a developer. They're still a publisher (they pay developers to make games)
Counterstrike (Any version), Battlefield (Version), etc...
Every revision of each of those games was fairly different from one another, whereas Call of Duty just keeps doing the same exact shit.
I don't mind CoD, just make other things for a change. That Walking Dead game had a lot of potential to be decent if they worked another few years on it.
Call of Duty may be the same thing with each iteration
But man is it fun
