(completely ripped off from gizmodo) It's confirmed. The iPhone 4 is coming to Verizon. Starting at $200 for the 16GB version, with a new antenna and a hotspot application that would allow you to connect your computer or any other device to the internet. How does it look? Same as the iPhone 4, except with a different antenna design. Here's a hands-on video. How much is the Verizon iPhone 4? You can get it starting at $200 for the 16GB version. The preorder page is live now. How much are the plans? We don't know any details about how much the monthly payments would be. Verizon hasn't disclosed this information yet. What's the minimum contract? Two years. When would it be available? It will be available on February 10. If you are a Verizon Wireless customer, you can reserve one now from a special stockpile and get it on February 3. Does it fix the iPhone 4 antenna problem? The antenna design has been changed, but we don't know if it has fixed the current iPhone 4 reception problem: A Verizon employee says that the "antenna works great." Of course, that's what they would say. We will test it as soon as we get it. How does it work? The iPhone 4 for Verizon uses the CDMA network, not LTE. That means is not going to take advantage of the higher speeds of their 4G network. Can I talk and surf the web at the same time? No. Your data connection will break every time you receive a call, so no internet surfing or video while talking. Is the white iPhone 4 available from Verizon? While it shows up in Verizon's pages, we don't know if it's available yet. Can I take my existing number to my new Verizon iPhone 4? If you are with another provider and your number is portable, you can bring it to Verizon when you get their iPhone. It will take no more than four days to have it transferred. Would I be able to connect my computer to the internet through the Verizon iPhone? Yes. The iPhone 4 comes with a hotspot application, basically converting it in a Wi-Fi network to go. All your devices—to a maximum of five at the same time—will be able to connect to the web using this feature. Will the Verizon iPhone have Verizon's built-in apps? Surprisingly, ye-No. You will be able to download the hotspot application—as well as the VZ Navigator, and V CAST Media Manager—for free. Will the Verizon iPhone work globally? No. It doesn't have GSM capability, so it will only work in 40 countries that have CDMA carriers. When will the LTE iPhone appear? Verizon is not talking about when the LTE-based iPhone will appear. Apple's Tim Cook has said that this iPhone 4 is not LTE because that would have meant a lot less battery life, something they didn't want to compromise. Finally!
Too bad I can't afford it :emo:
FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I should waited to get my new phone, damn it!
AWESOME. I love verizon.
That's cool, about time too.
Sounds pretty cool.
Getting it as soon as it's available.
I was wanting one of these, and I knew it was coming, but I went with the Droid X. Gotta say, I love the thing. If it breaks though, I suppose I'll go for one.
I'm not a fan of touch-screen phones. I can't type on them! My blackberry may be a bit outdated, but it's keyboard is better than any phone out there, and I tend to be a windy.
Can I talk and surf the web at the same time? No. Your data connection will break every time you receive a call, so no internet surfing or video while talking.
Honestly, who gives a fuck about this? Nobody I know watches a video and talks at the same time, let alone browses the web.
Unfortunately I'm still in contract with AT&T. Which is utter shit where I live.
Oh cool, more costy phones. Except this is an expensive phone that you need an expensive plan for.
Two years? Nowadays some people change cellphones every 6 months
Some people get a new phone as soon as the next new version comes out.
Oh cool, more costy phones. Except this is an expensive phone that you need an expensive plan for.
$30 isn't all that much. Yes, it's somewhat heavy but it's worth it.
Bye, AT&T.
Only reason I'll ever use one of these things is because Apple is sending me a demo-unit. Fuck iOS.
Only reason I'll ever use one of these things is because Apple is sending me a demo-unit. Fuck iOS.
You're horrible
I despise my iPhone and the horrid call quality and useless unchangeable battery. you'd be better off with something like a Droid or an HTC Evo.
its like a "meh" to me i rather get the Droid phones Verizon has
Getting it as soon as it's available.
id wait awhile before getting one of these most likely they will release a new one to work with verizons network better within the year or early next year.
I was watching during the press conference. So damn disappointed, I was expecting more info on the new Android phones from CES.
cool. I want one now.
It's a non-exclusive CDMA iPhone deal. Sprint possibly?! That would be awesome.
This will be so much better than AT&T.
Also OP, you can buy the iPhone 4 from VZW off-contract but you'll obviously pay the full price.
I still can't believe how can T-Mobile sell the iPhone for $500 with 2 years of loyalty for a $70/month plan in Hungary. The 3GS version.
Now no one has an excuse to use AT&T
and att slowly goes bankrupt perfumly's post is a coincidence
I just signed up for information on preordering :P
