JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. — Tornadoes have left widespread damage in Southern Indiana and a sheriff’s official says at least one town of about 1,900 people is “completely gone.” Indiana Department of Homeland Security Spokesman John Erickson confirmed three deaths in Jefferson County. National Weather Service coordinator Bill Whitlock there’s “extreme damage” in the area of Henryville, a town of about 3,000 people just north of the Kentucky border. Destruction can be seen for miles and a school district spokeswoman says heavy damage has been reported at Henryville High school. Clark County Sheriff’s Department Maj. Chuck Adams says the nearby town of Marysville is “completely gone.” The powerful storms were part of a system that stretched from the Gulf Coast to the Great Lakes, flattened buildings in several states and bred anxiety across a wide swath of the country in the second powerful tornado outbreak this week. Forecasters at the National Weather Service’s Storm Prediction Center in Oklahoma said tornado threats as serious as Friday’s only happen several times a year. “Maybe five times a year we issue what is kind of the highest risk level for us at the Storm Prediction Center,” forecaster Corey Mead said. “This is one of those days.” Forecasters warned of severe thunderstorms with the threat of tornadoes crossing a region from southern Ohio through much of Kentucky and Tennessee. By early Friday afternoon, tornado watches covered parts of those states along with Missouri, Illinois and Indiana. Schools sent students home early or cancelled classes entirely in states including Alabama, Tennessee, Mississippi, Kentucky and Indiana. In Alabama alone, more than 20 school systems dismissed classes early Friday. The University of Kentucky, the University of Louisville and several other colleges in the state also canceled classes. Not far away, the damage was much worse for retired high school band director Stanley Nelson. Winds peeled off his garage door and about a third of his roof, making rafters and boxes in his attic visible from the street.“It’s like it just exploded,” he said.
Wow. There is some really bad weather in those states, and the worst part is that some of my family is in the area. (Not in these cities, but the tornadoes are headed to them). It's always sad when this kind of stuff happens.
(Sorry if this is a horrible news thread, first time making a news thread... Also I could not figure out how to make a table.)
It completely skipped past Bloomington at IU here, we literally have had the sun out all day!
Tornadoes are vicious bastards.
That storm passed by me, but the part that went through my town wasnt severe
its heading near my town
its amazing how weather can do stuff like this but unfortunate at the same time
its heading near my town
Good luck, my friend. There also is a storm system coming near my town. I just hope that it's incapable of producing tornadoes. We're under a watch, but we're always under a tornado watch, so there's not much to worry about until the warning happens. That's when shit goes down south.
Girlfriend is near Nashville, sent me a picture of the huge clouds looming by. They're getting another round soon :/
WE ARE UNDER HEAVY SNOW ASSAULT, WE NEED BACKUP NOW, DAMN IT, NOW
SIGNALS ARE DOWN BECAUSE OF EXCESSIVE SNOW BUILD UP, WE CAN'T HOLD OUT MUCH LONGER
Same storm is hitting here in Pittsburgh,PA but its just a heavy down poor.
We had tornadoes that hit Branson and a few other towns just a couple days ago here in Missouri.
Today, we had rain and a little hail just before dawn that continued on until just before noon. Then our rain turned into huge-ass snowflakes that completely covered the ground. I went downstairs to do some work at 2, came back up at 4, and saw all the snow had melted and the sun was shining.
Watching the news right now, there are 22 active tornado warnings in 47 different counties around Kentucky and Tennessee and their neighbor states. This weather is fucked.
I live in Louisvlle, Kentucky and only had severe thunderstorms and small hail from where i am at. One of the highschools that got hit was completely destoried. too, i think it's called heathenville highschool or something along that.
When I read the title, I thought the tornado made 1900 people including the town disappear.
That really sucks
How is this a zing
This storm passed by me today. I was in 4th period at school when we were ordered to get into that "tornado drill position." Had to wait about 30 mins in the hall.
Also that one from a couple days ago got us too, at like 5:30 in the fucking morning. I stepped in the shower and immediately the tornado sirens came on. Fucking storms.
It hailed like hell at Purdue, it's windy too.
A lot of tornadoes came our way in Huntsville, Alabama and the surrounding areas. There were people who lost their homes, and some haven't recovered from the tornado storms back in April.
There were a lot of storms where I live today. All the schools in my area dismissed at 1:30 because of it.
I live just outside of tornado ally in the Northwestern corner of the state. I've only had one tornado up here and it did minor damage at best.
Still, my regards to my fellow Hoosiers. Hopefully they recover as we have done in the past.
It's not even fucking raining in my town in Mississippi
So you got to play a little twister I see.
We had a school extension due to the tornadoes here (Fishers, IN). Had to wait another 10 minutes before leaving school before we got approval to leave. One kid had an anxiety attack and freaked out.
Just went under another warning :(
I hope no one I know gets property damage.
Makes me glad I live in a country that pretty much never gets hit with natural disasters.
All we get is some quakes and they're so shitty we don't feel them until it says on the news that an earthquake happened.
78 tornadoes in 1 day. February averages 80 over the entire month. Damn
Also, rating this funny? Really? Fucking losers.

You'll never have a girlfriend, don't show your jealousy by wishing death on others.
Had some fucking crazy hail this morning, every bit of the ground was covered in it.
Right now its 10 miles south of our house.
