The show revolves around Larry David's normal life and usually involves him getting into huge misunderstandings from simple things. What makes this show unique is that most of the dialogue is improvised. Larry writes a basic outline for the plot and the actors fill in the rest. This gives it a really unique, natural feel. Curb currently has 7 seasons with an 8th set for to premiere on July 10th (as the title says).
Main Characters
Larry David as himself.
Candid, neurotic, but generally disposed to pursue what he perceives to be the right course, Larry often finds himself in awkward situations that arise as a result of his obstinate belief in his own ethical principles and codes of conduct, which he is nevertheless prepared to bend when it suits him. He usually has good intentions but often finds himself a victim of circumstance and social convention, as many of the people around him are also self-centered and stubborn. He often centers on petty details, to the point that he aggravates everyone around him just to prove an insignificant point. The real life Larry David has commented that although he secretly wishes to be more like his fictionalized version on the series, he could never be that way because he is a lot more cautious when it comes to social tension. Larry's trademark behaviors are his probing stare when he doesn't think somebody is telling the truth and saying something is "prett-ay, prett-ay, prett-ay, pretty good."
Jeff Garlin as Jeff Greene.
One of Larry's closest friends, Jeff is his sympathetic manager whose marital problems and adulterous misadventures entangle Larry in embarrassing situations. Jeff often helps Larry with his problems, but that usually leads to Jeff getting involved with the mess. Jeff and his wife, Susie (Susie Essman), have a daughter named Sammy (Ashly Holloway). While they ultimately love each other, his wife constantly criticizes him on his decisions and weight, while his daughter at times is neutral about her love for her father. Jeff Garlin stated that he truly does not empathize with his character at all and described him as a "pretty evil guy" who has "no morals, no scruples".
Cheryl Hines as Cheryl David
Larry's long-suffering wife, who often expresses annoyance with his behavior, even in situations beyond his control. She often serves as a voice of reason for him, and helps define the social guidelines that he may have overlooked. Her affection for him has been tested, even resulting in her leaving him for a time. While her adventures don't usually lead her far off from Larry, she has a few various activities which involve a short amount of time spent acting, and also being an advocate of environmental issues, including being a member of the NRDC.
There are also tons of cameos from famous people like Ben Stiller, Mel Brooks, Martin Scorsese, and more. If you liked Seinfeld then you'll probably love this show as you get to see all the major stars being themselves. It'll also make Season 7 even more amazing for you, although I won't spoil why. If you don't like Seinfeld then it's still worth a try because the actual comedic style is a bit different from the usual sitcom style. If you're watching it for the first time I'd say you have to be pretty open to it because I hated it at first and was about to shut it off but after a while it grew on me and is now one of my favorite shows
This show is hilarious. I've heard that Larry David in real life isn't so far from how he portrays himself in the show.
This show is hilarious, the awkward situations make it painful to watch [editline]17th June 2011[/editline] In a good way
I've been looking forward to this for the past year and a half. Can't wait to see the new episodes. [editline]17th June 2011[/editline] Also, here's a good trailer video for the new season:
"mommy! mommy! The bald man is in the bathroom and there is something hard in his pants!"
Larry: He insulted me. He implied that I was lying about my stepfather! Jeff Greene: You don't have a stepfather. Larry: I know, but I didn't like the implication!
Can't stand this show
Fuck yeah, bout time.
July will be a good month.

"He didn't kidnap and eat your dog, okay? Don't worry about it."

Today is a happy day. Season premier in a number of hours.
Just watched the premier, I'm so glad it's back on.
I've only got DVDs for the first four, have got to get the rest soon. Absolutely love the show
Bump because I just watched the latest episode and it was amazing
Probably the funniest show ever.
I died laughing when this happened (no spoilers). [hd]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7BiXKmqQbrk[/hd]
I just watched the pilot and I have to say, I didn't really enjoy it. Does it get better and should I try again? Or should I just count it as 'not my type of thing' and not bother.

Try watching the newest episode and seeing if you like it, it's possibly one of the best episodes and I'm pretty sure it doesn't rely on any prior knowledge of the show
I really love this show but never really watched it all that much, I need to get every seasons and watch all the episodes. It's an hilarious show after all.
This, Seinfeld, and Wilfred have been pretty much the only things I've watched all summer. Love Larry David

I made some Palestinian chicken yesterday with couscous and it really was actually probably the best chicken I've ever made.

Thanks! I'm not sure where to start watching now. I might start at the beginning of season 8 and see if I follow it.

No matter which episode I watch, no matter how many times I've seen it, I'll always be laughing out loud.
