On the flip side of this, I highly encourage anyone who hasn't to get out to NYC in their lifetime, ESPECIALLY Brooklyn and the upper parts of Harlem. It is an AMAZING city filled with vibrancy and culture, and is ridiculously easy to get around in. The one place I would say to stay away from would be Time Square, but that's just because I get heckled every time I'm there.
