boycot circuses please, they are such an archaic remenant, cruel and unnecessary as fuck
There's more to the circus than animal shows.
There's more to the circus than animal shows.
sure but most circuses come with animal shows and that requires not only a life in cages it requires a life in traveling cages
Aren't most circuses phasing out animal performances?
He wasn't really freed, he just got put into a larger cage with grass and dirt
He wasn't really freed, he just got put into a larger cage with grass and dirt
He'd probably die from the inability to hunt pretty soon if he was, the grassy fenced area is pretty nice considering.

Lions also live 10–14 in the wild so here's pretty much a lion senior at this point, and really wouldn't stand a chance for long, in the wild. Keeping it in a nice fenced area for the last few years it will probably live for is the best thing that could be done for it. [editline]15th June 2015[/editline]
Wait, that kills lions? how?
Starvation kills most stuff, you know?
Starvation kills most stuff, you know?
I know that, but I'm assuming the caretakers feed him :V
Wait, that kills lions? how?
He meant that if he was to be freed back in the wild, the fact that he, most probably, never hunted in his entire life and doesn't even know how to do it, along with the fact that his strength and speed is lower (again, due to living in confinement) would impair his ability to survive, he'd not be able to catch anyone and starve (most probably).

But yeah, that's probably what would happen.
It's a joy to see animals that happy. Kind of reminds me of the reaction that elephant who had been abused for 50 years and had been freed - it cried. I wonder if they can rehabilitate him and put him back in the wild or at least a reserve. Odds are they won't, but still, it's worth a shot.
I wouldn't really see a problem with a circus that treats their animal right, giving them nice living conditions and so on. Nothing in the laws of nature says that a species cannot survive and reproduce in controlled captivity. And for better treatment and better/larger living conditions, comes higher costs for the owner.
He'd probably die from the inability to hunt pretty soon if he was, the grassy fenced area is pretty nice considering.
Ever notice how these videos always have some kind of banjo strum along inspirational tune on every single one.
