• Australians 'need more seasons'
An Australian scientist says the continent needs five or six seasons to suit its climate. Tim Entwisle, chief of Sydney's Royal Botanic Gardens, says Australia should "unhook" itself from the "arbitrary" four seasons it inherited from Britain. Mr Entwisle has proposed "sprummer" - the season between spring and summer - and "sprinter" - an early spring. He says a new system could help people better understand their environment and monitor signs of climate change. "Having four three-month seasons... doesn't make any sense in the place we live," he told Australia's public broadcaster ABC News. "Something with more seasons would work better and something that unhooks us from these arbitrary European seasons," he added. Aboriginal Australians use up to eight seasons in some parts of the country to capture local conditions. Mr Entwisle says that for the system to work well, different regions would need a different number of seasons. "I'd be encouraging different areas to have local regional seasons, to spend some time working that out and to use them to reflect what's going on around us," he told ABC. He has suggested holding a national debate on the subject, and a public competition to name the new seasons. An Australian scientist says the continent needs five or six seasons to suit its climate. So kids, when it's winter up here, it's sprummer in Australia!
When I read the title I almost thought that they were thinking of actually physically "Making" new seasons through some device that controls the weather, and immediately thought to myself: "God-damn, Australia is awesome."
Either whoever wrote that fucked up, or you did, because I saw random lines repeated several times.
100% copy pasta
What a prat. [editline]08:02AM[/editline]
100% copy pasta
It's not like it's an entire page.
Mr Entwisle sure thought up some pretty shit sounding names.
The weather is shit here. Sometimes we have freezing days in summer, and hot days in winter. It's ether hot or cold, never warm.
The weather is shit here. Sometimes we have freezing days in summer, and hot days in winter. Its random wheather here, in winter its like rainy rainy hot rainy hot hot rainy hot.
Dude, you copied the article twice.
It's still late winter here and we're already looking at 30 degree days, that's about mid eighties in Fahrenheit. Six seasons would make more sense, but good luck naming them something that doesn't sound as retarded as "sprinter".
The weather here is pretty weird and unreliable
Good luck on bringing that in. [editline]09:01PM[/editline] Wait, it makes sense. New seasons, 1 every 2 months. But coming up with the names and trying to stick with them is going to be hard.
way to become even more different from the rest of the world
Sauce: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/8215570.stm So hey, Aussies, hows the sprummer going?
fuck tard it's sprinter don't you know anything Actually it's quite fitting because Sprinter would be when I do most of my running/parkour because that's when everything is warm, but not too warm, as well as all the grass being green.
As if Australia wasn't enough of a world Pariah :golfclap:
Australia is now an attention whore.
Australia is an attention whore.
I'm Australian and I agree. also can I have some gaybows?
i thought it was a bit silly a few years ago it was getting into the mid 40's in autumn [editline]07:26PM[/editline] in queensland at least
Snipe'n weather's best in sprummer, mate.
It's winter and tomorrow the forecast is for 91.4 degrees Fahrenheit. Seriously what the fuck.
No point having any seasons with the weather we're having now.
Australia is a hot desert? Was yesterday, today it's a frozen wasteland.
Greedy bastard Aussies.
Winter Spring Summer and Autumn are the only ones you need, stop trying to be special Austrailia.
Silly scientists. There's no need for seasons when you have air conditioning.
Winter Spring Summer and Autumn are the only ones you need, stop trying to be special Austrailia.
It's winter now, and it's getting pretty hot.
Yeah, it's winter at the moment but it feels like summer, which is weird. Took the bed warmer off today :3.

Sprummer sounds like a VERY Aussie term, although it seems more fitting for some kind of Australian grazing rodent.
