It said Gameplay in the original title, but there is no gameplay it is all cutscenes [h=1][/h] [editline]20th October 2015[/editline] Interesting that the Lucasfilm Logo was there, did it show up in other SWTOR trailers?
Anyone still play this trainwreck?
Anyone still play this trainwreck?
Yes lots of people. Enough for it to be profitable enough to give away this expansion for free to subscribers. They charged for the last 2. We have a thread over in the General Games Discussion.
It's not a train wreck, they've signifcantly improved the game, especially with the patch they just released today.
But what about for people who don't shell out for extra hotbar slots and normal xp rate?
it isn't a trainwreck for subscribers. [editline]20th October 2015[/editline] It is still a trainwreck for F2P players.
It's not free2play if content is restricted behind a monthly paywall.
That premise sounds really cliche. I mean how many MMOs have done the 'we have to work together now against a common enemy' thing? Maybe I'm seeing something that isn't there but I feel like WoW's done that like 8 times
Anyone still play this trainwreck?
Lest we forget the lives lost, many moons ago, when the Tortanic struck the fatal iceberg on its maiden voyage

So is this supposed to be a alternate timeline or did this "Eternal Empire" really existed in the Star Wars canon and actually came close to defeating both the Sith and the Republic?
So is this supposed to be a alternate timeline or did this "Eternal Empire" really existed in the Star Wars canon and actually came close to defeating both the Sith and the Republic?
SWTOR is 3600 years before the movies, its possible for things to be lost over time. The galaxy apparently forgot about the jedi in 20 years, so :v:

I remember it being ~9000 years beforehand. But, to be honest, it's all really just the excuse to make it alternate reality. All the tech is the same, the planets haven't changed, and you get the same Star Wars lore, just with a Bioware twist.

The game is fine for preferred and sub players, but good luck ever playing it as a full free to play person. That said, they have made the game better overtime as a whole. Leveling is as easy as just doing story quests (which is all anyone plays this game for anyways), so there is that.
Lest we forget the lives lost, many moons ago, when the Tortanic struck the fatal iceberg on its maiden voyage
people who use 'tortanic' ironically still are hilariously misinformed the game's story at this point is actually one of the strongest star wars games to come out, i mean yeah its go MMO gameplay but each class has this core plotline you follow that reaches all the way till the expansion content, and each plot line can be branched off of due to your choices and shit. like my buddy is some cunning imperial agent who's deep in the underground spess politics of the empire, while im off playing my bounty hunter and going on an intergalactic bounty hunting competition in order to exact my revenge against some piece of shit who decided to cross me. its a gr8 game, and it's not even that bad for f2p (though obviously the game is best when subbed, which comes as no surprise because it's a big name mmo and it's one of the few that are actual worth the cashola at this point) i strongly recommend the game to anyone who's iffy about it, cause it's WAY better than it was at launch
So is this supposed to be a alternate timeline or did this "Eternal Empire" really existed in the Star Wars canon and actually came close to defeating both the Sith and the Republic?
The Old Republic's canonicity is up in the air at this point.
The Old Republic's canonicity is up in the air at this point.
TOR is 100% canon, KOTOR is dubious.
The Old Republic is non-canon to the overarching Star Wars franchise. It's a part of the Legends banner. http://www.starwars.com/news/swca-one-big-story-star-wars-canon-panel-liveblog Ctrl+F 'The Old Republic'
I thought the general consensus on FP was that we don't give a shit about Disney says. Besides, if it's officially non-canon, it means BioWare's hands are untied and they can go with their story in whatever direction they choose. Probably if they had to follow canon, there wouldn't be KotFE's story.
yeah there was a specific branch of LF that was designed to designate new canon, and they definitely made a statement about TOR being canon so looks like it's in the air atm [editline]22nd October 2015[/editline] nvm same group as that article, strange that they went back on their word
This really feels like fan fiction level story writing.
This really feels like fan fiction level story writing.
so like KOTOR 1? sounds good to me
Probably if they had to follow canon, there wouldn't be KotFE's story.
The LucasFilm storygroup, the entity behind maintaining the new Canon, had to approve this.
I hate it when MMOs make the "storyline" about the player character specifically, introducing supporting characters that talk to you like you're their best friend. You gotta have MMO's be about the entire force of people playing; you being just a grunt.

Not even once.
The LucasFilm storygroup, the entity behind maintaining the new Canon, had to approve this.
They probably have to approve all of the official Star Wars content, even if it's part of Legends.

They already know you. So, yeah, they kind of are your friends.
The HK voice in the trailer sounds so wrong. Is that the way it sounds in the actual game? I'm pretty sure it's the same voice actor as the one in KOTOR I/II so someone really dropped the ball with the audio filtering.

He is voiced by the same actor.
Well not quite. He still likes to kill things, hes got some great cutscenes. But his primary programming is to be a bodyguard.
