*USE WITH CAUTION*
Oh god I think it impregnated me too. :ohdear:

Or is it :neckbeard:?
It's got a pretty nice feel to it, but bass-lines wise nothing touches Chainsaw Calligraphy

Holy Christ ^ thats epic
Holy shit nice. What did you use to make it?
Cubase 5, Virus TI2 desktop for the basis of the sound and a bunch of distortion and filtering and other secret processing to give it the character :)
"That bass loop is so good, that when I tried to turn it off, I actually couldn't. I actually physyically couldn't!"
Peep show reference anyone? :v:
Good bass line it is though.
Thanks :D
Is Cubase better than Reason?

As a long time Reason user, yes.

I converted him!
But yeah, Cubase is way more powerful.

Um... neither of those basslines were incredibly impressive, imo. I mean, a GOOD bassline should have more than 3 distinct pitches.

The point of that style of bass isn't to hit multiple notes so much as to sorta flow about and sound all woobly weebly wobbly knobbly
I am disappoint. There are much better baselines out there. These didn't cause much of a stir in me.

"Get it"? They we're just posting criticism. Hell, one of them was even being constructive.
BTW the bassline is great.

Haha well the guy that does get it, does get it. The point of a bassline like this isn't to invoke emotion with beautiful melodic content. It's to do that with nasty evil growley modulation.

It's fantastic.
See, this song has a (imo) jaw-dropping bassline:

Are you trolling?
Did you listen to the bass, all the way through?
That was a really simple bass line. pluck pluck pluck pluck pluck pluck pluck pluck (change note) repeat.

Excuse me sir, but who are you to dictate the meaning of a bassline?
I play bass guitar, and those basslines are completely different from these. You can't just say that a musical concept is "supposed to be" something, it just doesn't work that way.
If you want to educate yourself on the different kinds of bass i can send you a list of songs and things you should look up. A little theory never hurt anyone.
The lines aren't bad by the way, keep working on that.

Entirely different genre.
You don't use a double or electric bass in most forms of electronica. You do use this kind of bass in everything from ambient music to DnB, the latter being this dude's "thang."
You can't just say that a musical concept is "supposed to be" something, it just doesn't work that way.
One, this isn't a "concept", it's a bassline for certain styles of music as played by a synthesizer. I can define it in the same way I can define a bassline for a punk rock song being played on a thunderbird. Two, even "concepts" are capable of being defined, or they wouldn't mean anything. I take it you've no knowledge of music theory.

Hahahahahaha silly basssists

Psst, way to miss the "bassline like this" part. Meaning, that isn't my intention with this style of bass at all. I didn't say that is never an intention. Obviously bass guitar is completely different from this, that's why that guy's criticism wasn't really applicable in the first place. I'm more than capable of writing melodic stuff too. :) (mostly unfinished bits and pieces here)

Yeah, i know. That's not what we're discussing here.

A concept isn't defined, it's an abstract or an idea that can be interpreted the way the artist wants.
I'm a student at a prominent music-academy in Norway.

I'm sure you'll keep running your mouth when i'm a worldwide progressive metal god and you are one of those bland drones who make music for TV commercials.
Kids nowadays.

Oh very well then, keep on doing your thing. Don't mind me.
Have a bass.

Saying you're going to be a metal god is like when kids say they want to be professional athlete. Takes a lot of skill and practice and hard work, and the chances of making it big are pretty slim.
To be honest I would totally enjoy making music for commercials because I'd be getting paid to do something I love. Although film scoring would be more fun than commercials so if I were doing commercials I'd be working towards that goal.
(and I know that wasn't originally directed at my but oh well, I can respond anyways :D )
