I was stupidly assuming that the device restored full hearing, when apparently it's just a limited range. Still, the fact that we can manage even that is incredible, and the technology is still improving as well. I can't imagine what it'd be like emotionally to finally hear after having no hearing for so long, or for your whole life, especially since human speech apparently sounds tinny and robotic when put through the hearing device.

She has obviously not been deaf since birth since she can tell the sound is being high pitched and speaking perfectly well. If there has not ever been any sound to her, she obviously have nothing to compare the pitch to.
